Kop atmosphere

Thank christ for the voice of common sense. I have a ST on H Block which was stood up for the whole of the game on Friday. My back was fucked and I had to sit down at half time to recover. Not everyone in the ground has an A1 fitness certificate.

It was the same behind our sofa, it’s improved since we binned the Christmas tree, but there’s not enough room to give it full volume in any degree of comfort or safety....

I thought it was the quitest Lane derby I've ever attended and I've been to them all since we resumed hostilities in the early 90s. The usual groups on the back of the kop doing their own thing and not joining in with each other. What's all that about? There was a constant wall of noise but very little singing. Saying all that I barely heard Wendy either. The game certainly didn't help.

I don’t think the game helped. But I did think it was quiet comparatively.

I said something on the same topic in a different thread. I've stood with both groups and I think they purposely don't pick up on each others chants. I've noticed if one of the groups starts off a song then the other group, instead of joining in, will start a different song. It's odd but it seems they both consider themselves to be the kop's songsmiths. To the detriment of getting the kop to sing as one.

I've stood/sat at the back of the kop for thirty odd years and I noticed this change when I made my return to the Lane last season after being away for a few years.

If the Kop could sing together there'd be no problem.

It really shouldn't be hard - notice which chant's the loudest, and pick it up.

It's pathetic isn't it. "We're all wankers at the Lane" really seems quite apt sometimes...

There are three other sides to the ground, and I didn’t hear a thing from any of them.... I’m on block G... very loud all game...

You wanna look at your fucking selves all sat there with your arms folded wondering why it’s not noisy enough for you...

That shows you how piss poor the rake is on ours then because Liverpool's looks far bigger. They probably have more 'leg room' too though.
They look very similar in rakebut Liverpools does look slightly steeper,Liverpools does have the castlelated top section which gives it a deeper apearance, plus its canterlevered roof.

First half the Kop didn't stop singing for more than a few minutes at a time. The fans for me throughout the 90 mins from all areas of the ground did everything to try and suck the ball into the back of the net for us. It wasn't to be but can't doubt the noise / atmosphere and willing from the fans from all areas of the ground. Fans were a credit to the players. No reason there can't be that sort of noise week in week out. We're currently in what you might call a 'bad spell' but if we come out of this patch still sat in 6th, that gives us every opportunity to push on up that table again and put a run together. UTB!!

Our kop looks nowhere near as deep as theirs but a lot wider which would make up the defecit in capacity somewhat.

Ours is a better red than Liverpool's though. Theirs looks more pink, like ours when the sun's been on it for about 10 years.

Some questions asked about the backing from the kop prior to the match - I thought that the backing was fantastic and the best since that game against Spurs in the league cup, liked the blue and white Piggy that was being tossed about, plus balloons
The roof would have come off if we had scored

I would't say they were that loud to be honest, only really piped up at the beginning

In the 1960's the Liverpool kop used to have 28,000 on there.
