Some questions asked about the backing from the kop prior to the match - I thought that the backing was fantastic and the best since that game against Spurs in the league cup, liked the blue and white Piggy that was being tossed about, plus balloons
The roof would have come off if we had scored

Agreed, I was on E block, moved to F before the end, atmosphere was electric. If we'd scored it would have been mayhem

To be fair, I sit at the back of the John St, at the half way line, and I thought it was surprisingly quiet in the 2nd half. They were very quiet until the end, the match seemed to suck the atmosphere out of the ground.

I was at the top of Gangway A and the noise / atmosphere was superb. On another thread someone's mentioned the music 'Fear' that we came out too. On that part of the kop you couldn't hear any music or any announcements.

More to do with the fact we hadn't scored.
And Wendy were doing their job to contain.
I suspect it would have been full on had we been 2 or 3 goals to the good.

Nothing makes us stop singing more than frustration.
The South stand and BLUT gave it some though.

It might not have looked like we were going to score but there's absolutely no excuse for not ramping up the volume in those last 10 minutes. Didn't surprise me at all though.

I know, you should have sang up mate.

Their "support" by contrast, was fucking lamentable (that's "wank" for any pig reading this).
Have to agree their support was pathetic. Same as at Swillsborough.

Interesting translation. You know your “Pig” don’t you ? Mixed blessing or not ?

I was sat on the edge of the Westfield corner (next to BLUT not SS) and I thought the atmosphere from the Kop wasn't that electric as I thought it would be for a game like this. But as another poster says above the SS, WC and BLUT were loud through most parts of the night and has been better this season in general, I think there's a bit of a factor in this though as being sat on one of the aforementioned 3 stands you're as close to the away fans as you can get so more likely to sing to them.

Pigs atmosphere on the other hand was absolutely non existent until the last 20 mins or so, they started to pipe up a little as they probably realised they were in with a chance of getting something whereas prior to the game they would've been fearing the worst.

Obviously not loud enough mate, as the atmosphere was poor according to you.
You're as responsible for creating an atmosphere as everyone else, and apparently you failed.

That second half I lost track of the occasions where I was singing with what the back of the Kop were trying to generate, and there was probably a radius of about 20 till you got to anyone else willing to help. Perhaps it was my singing...

Do some of you listen to the crowd for 90 minutes in the big Prem games or in the Brum derby this season?

We can all come away from a game thinking the atmosphere wasn't great today, and there's nothing wrong with doing things to try and improve it.

However I'm puzzled as to why some seem hell bent on enforcing this myth that our atmospheres are well behind most which they're clearly not.

You're not going to get a wall of noise for most of the game whoever we play, even less so if the game is benign.

I was on the John Street stand (not been on there for 30+ years) gangway H. Singing and chanting was sporadic at best and normally prompted by chants coming from other parts of the ground. That said, me and the blade next to me (great to meet you if you read this) started off a few chants as best we could. I didn't mind if nobody else joined in, I was past caring :).

He obviously does and he’s trying to do something about it. The fans should have roared the team home in the last twenty minutes. They didn’t. Then people come up with the ‘up to them to give us something to shout about’ bollocks.

I would say you were doing an admirable job, but as fans, we all share the responsibility of creating an atmosphere, and according to many, we failed.

Why do you say "the fans", rather than "we"?

Because, like Ricky, I do the best I can in terms of vocal support for ninety minutes. Some “fans” might as well be in a library or opera house.

I don't understand: why would you doing your best in terms of vocal support mean you make the distinction between yourself and "the fans"?
