I think that’s how wilder operates best though… under achieving players or players on the rise from lower leagues so that doesn’t surprise me that he’s steadied the ship.I didn't want Wilder to come back but how can anyone question how well he's done?! We're second with a threadbare squad full of injuries. Playing kids who would struggle to get a league loan.
We've been overachieving but after a few years of relative success sone of our fan base have become entitled. The fact so many expected us to get automatic promotion at the start of the season said it all.
Let’s not forget that even with a fully fit squad performances were dire not but because of injuries.
I’m not sure ‘entitled’ is an accurate description but I do think they expect to be entertained which Wilders style of football doesn’t.
Yes we get results and it’s a results business but if we want to get promoted and stay there we need to develop beyond this robotic, agricultural style of football we currently play and I see no evidence of even an attempt at that.
I had us down as 8th this season. I think we will make the play offs. I don’t think we will go up. But I would be content wiitb that.
Our new owners won’t and wilder will be gone and a new manager will be in situ who can hopefully take us on a journey similar to what wilder did in league 1 with a fresh attacking style, some tactical genius’s and establish us in the league above.
That wasWilders legacy he’s established us as a top end champ club again. We are now asking too much of him and him of himself.
