KMac

I think most people on here are now confident Kmac has signed. I totally accept until in black and white some remain to be convinced and that's totally understandable. It's time to look at the rest now....Willo clearly does not want to sign the same type of deal so its time to move on I think and DW would be well within his rights to tell him. The new lads played well last night and we now need a few more in cover positions. You never know we might actually be all right. UTB ..

I think we are a long way from that GB.
....and I am not happy to accept that "all right" is good enough.

My biggest concern now is, where are the goals going to come from?
You take Evans, Willo and Lowton out of the side and that's over half the goals from last season gone (approx 56 out of 92). The re-signing of KMac should make it easier for DW to attract a decent goal scorer because he can sell them on the supply from a highly competent midfield. Before KMac had signed the quality of the midfield was my biggest concern.
After the striker position is sorted then we need cover at CB.
If Quinn goes we will need a quality replacement on the left.
We still lack pace in wide areas which limits our ability to counter attack and stretch the opposition.

Still a long way to go but.........

Time to give the kids their wings. Looks like Danny is giving Chappell every chance to compete for the RW position with Flynn. On the left we have Quinn and Tonne, I can imagine Quinn going but maybe it would be wise just to go with Tonne with McFadzean backing him up. Upfront we have Porter, Cresswell, Cofie and Ironside.

To cover Doyle and KMac we have Harriott, Whitehouse and McAllister.

All these kids are missing is experience so let's give it them.

Thanks for whatever inside knowledge you have. I know a few have questioned you, but you seemed legit and have proved to be bang on the money because I had been told the same info about Kmac over the weekend. Any other nuggets?

Good stuff. Should it have taken so long though? Maybe we should not have tried to resign all three of the amigos from the off & just gone with Porter & Kmac in hindsight?

Were still searching for pace in the team, which we seriously lack.

i reckon we should be overflowing with pace with all of those kids in the team.. i reckon we'll be playing the same way next season. SAF would have sought assurances that we don't play hoofball before he lent us cofie

Can't see us going back to hoofball and I think United have woken up to the fact that the hoofball tactic is fading in the game.

Unless he's one of those players that he's bigging up and secretly hoping some twat will take him off his hands (step forward Michael Twiss/Lee Martin).

PS. As I haven't seen Cofie I'm not saying he is such a player but that Ferguson bloke didn't get where . . . . .

Now a free agent Twiss.

It seems some Ipswich fans reckon there is more to come from Lee Martin. lol

Absolutely chuffed to bits. Best Blades business of the summer regardless of what else happens.

Yep, completely agree with that - we seem to have dealt with it calmly, with the right end result. I'd love to see him run the midfield for us in the Championship within that contract.

L'bro..Have kept away from Message boards since the disappointment of the PO final (I just wind myself up, sadly). I've been around long enough to see relative success for us Blades, but /and the biggest disappointment for me was assuming we'd have no chance of keeping K Mac. I know one man doesn't make a team but with him in my team, that's enough of a statement of intent for me!. Keep up the good work Danny..UTB

No problem. Couldn't resist it. There is an option of a third year as well which I think is good for all concerned. There seems to be plenty of things happening but no one showing their hand on moves out. It's a real problem with the new financial rules. Probably more loans until September when window shuts. Players getting offered lump sums based on promotion to drag cash into next years budget is creative but dangerous. Great if it works and your revenue goes up but not good otherwise. Nearly all league 1 clubs will be forced down this route and it could actually create a bigger hidden financial problem. I hope not

Great news. Just hope he doesnt get injured at the worst possible times again next season.

Fantastic news, the bloke is a cut above in L1, watched him closely last year in games and he really impressed me. There is hope yet!!!!

Interesting stuff, cheers.

The concept of deferring financial commitments until the next season is depressingly short sighted. Given our relatively high turnover (for Div1), you'd hope we'd not indulge in such things.

I don't see why this would cause a problem providing the lump sum payments are only paid IF we go up.
IF we do go up, the revenues we receive from TV, sponsorship, attendances, merchandise etc WILL all increase.
The club have a very good idea what those increased revenues will be, so offering performance-related bonuses within the limits of our projected revenue actually seems like a shrewd move to me.

Absolutely chuffed he's signed - That will be the signing of the summer for us. Hope he can make it through a season without much injury this time around
