Both have had their best defender banjaxxed.

Both have had the wheels royally come off this season.

Interesting synergies for me. One wonders how Liverpool are going to address this slump Vrs us...

Reckon both also suffer from no fans - think of a full Anfield/BDTBL, loosing 6 in a row at home?? and the 2nd season syndrome of 'weve done it!'

both managers are also facing the first real challenge of their career, both look lost for an explanation

think the real learning they should take is your at your most vulnerable when you think your at your strongest

Having won the league, rather than building on the first 11 and giving them fierce competition to drive them on again, Klopp bought Jota as a back up striker, Thiago as a slow ball playing midfielder and Kabak/Davies (who) for defensive cover

Having finished 9th we bought an unproven at this level Brewster, a previously relegated Ramsdale a couple of young lads from Derby and a makeweight from WBA

Imagine if Lpl had gone out and bought Mbappe, or Lewandoski
where would we be had we brought in Eze and Watkins*

Neither team strengthened and sent out a signal to the ones who delivered success last season that they were still playing for their place, and nothing is taken for granted.

I dunno I think Liverpool have TAA, Robertson, Gomez, Jones, Jota and kabak. With the caveat the Allison though not necessarily young is still very much not old for a goalkeeper. I think both squads are ageing in the midfield and looking at a total restructure there.

but for balance, we have Jags, Bash, Stevens, Fleck, Norwood, McG, Billy and all over 30 when next season kicks off - thats the spine of a team....

out of that lot, the only one i would say is capable of starting every game of a 46 match season is probably Bash, rest havent got a Sat/Wed/Sat in them at full tilt.

Agree on the recruitment tho, we really should have mixed it up - this summer we bought Ramsdale, Bogle, Lowe, Brewster & Burke for a combined fee of £55million and with an average age of 21.6 - you can add Mousse, McB and Berge for a £50m spend and an average age of 22.

so £105million plus spent.

Apart from Berge, have any of those actually improved the starting 11?

should we have kept some of the money and paid a bigger wage to a cheaper to buy, but more experienced pro?

It is the counter to it could again prove to be man united although not necessarily with Manchester kids. Man U’s under 23 side is currently very impressive with players like McNeil, hugill, tengi, majebri, garner and Galbraith many of which have been bought in as teenagers if even some of these were to truly break through and supplement the existing home produced core of Henderson, mctominay, greenwood and Rashford then Man U could have another home grown title challenging side on their hands. Although in my opinion they’d have to change the manager first.

Yep if I’m them I persist with the OGS experiment for a couple more years under the proviso that he continues to give youngsters opportunities and then once this group has been given a fair chance to stake a claim bring in a top tier manager when the youngsters have either staked a claim or faded away.
