How many times did that happen last season? Not at any matches that I attended or can remember. Is it still all down to who wins the toss? I think we might see it more often this year.

Noticed this too, doesnt happen all too often, wonder if its intentional from us, settle the lads down, get them kicking towards their own fans etc while we get used to pressures of PL football?

Yes it’s all down to the toss.

When we win the toss we always prefer to kick towards the Kop second half.
However It seems that in recent years even when the away team win the toss, they also prefer to kick towards their own fans 2nd half too.

Obviously Palace won the toss and decided to take away any perceived advantage away from us.

The coin toss used to be select which way end to play to first or whether you want the KO now you can pick both in the PL

Early season the sun is on the front of the KOP in the keepers eyes, as the game progresses this moves away and becomes less of an issue so perhaps also tactical.

They obviously won the toss and picked it as an off-putting tactic.
May it worked and Goldy would have scored, so we'd have beat them easier otherwise :)

In the 1970-71 and 1971-72 seasons we usually attacked the Kop End in the 1st half and scored more goals attacking the Lane End in the 2nd half

I think Wigan did this last season to us. Worked for them as it did for Palace.

We are formidable at the Lane no matter which way we kick first/second half.

My Dad used to reckon that if we were kicking towards Shoreham Street second half and weren’t losing at half time, we very rarely lost the match. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I doubt we will see this very often most teams like to kick towards their own fans in the second half. I have a feeling Palace won the toss and did it to try and unsettle us team and fans as the noise when the teams came out was immense on the kop couldn't even hear the tannoy for the roar so no clue as to the entrance music. Tell you what halfway up the kop you could feel the heat from those flame generators too.

Wilder made us Kick towards Kop first half , Think Middsbro were last club to make us do this or am i wrong ?
You're right. It was when Widler came back to the lane and I think he thought it would rattle us. I must say I am proper rattled by all the Boro fan comments. Never been so rattled by another club since Wrexham
