I don't know why, and so I'm not going to say its race religion or whatever, but I agree with the Captain, Wilder seems reticent to praise (or often even to play) Brooks or Seriki unless its absolutely necessary.

It seems absolutely insane to me, as I feel they are amongst our most talented players... in fact I'd even go so far with Seriki as to say that he's the most impressive full-back in the division this season.
Whilst I appreciate that I don't have all the facts, just from an observers perspective it seems weird.

We were more defensive last season - Seriki was utilised mainly as an attacking sub, which worked pretty well. Yeah he could've started more but most people agreed Choudary was excellent in that position, arguably one of our best players in the play off final.

We're more attacking this season, Seriki has played 90 mins in all but one of the last 11 games. (would've been 12 if Oxford wasn't postponed).
He has a history of niggling injuries. We needed a back-up/challenger because we have literally nobody to replace him if he gets injured. The fact we have signed a player that people think may replace Seriki suggests that Hoever is a good signing...is this not what we want? Two good first team ready players in every position - Baldock/Freeman were clear evidence this works. Some of these theories are absolutely grasping

Nah, i don't see anybody "worth moving to" will come in for either this window.
They're not going to leave for a Championship club and unless someone daft like Newcastle did with Osula come in, I just don't see it - "yet"

Seriki is. I remember his interview after he scored that he mentioned he prayed to god for the goal.

I hope no one takes offence at this and to be really clear I am not saying this is what is happening but I wonder if Wilder finds it frustrating managing people with strong religious feelings?

I find it interesting when we win and the social media posts or interviews are comments like "All Glory to God" or "Thank you God". I have no problem with religion or peoples beliefs but at face value I always think its taking away from the players and teams own hard work and success.

I am not saying it should stop, I just wonder what its like managing people like that.

I would guess it’s not too problematic, I can’t imagine Wilder is asking anyone to do anything that would contradict their beliefs. At least I hope not! I suppose there could be a pentangle painted on the dressing room wall and an altar for human sacrifice disguised as a treatment table.
Each to their own but I do sometimes wonder about thanking God for things you have done - my o level RE was a while ago but I am sure God said he was keeping well out of earthly goings on after he flooded the world, I find it hard he would make an exception for second tier footy fixtures!

I think Wilder seems to get frustrated with Brooks and Seriki, more than not liking them (they clearly are talented young players and he isn't an idiot) so would love to know what it is.

They are brilliant but both inconsistent. I’d love them to be Blades stars for years to come - with not being academy products. They both have such high ceilings and are really exciting to watch.

Also, Brooksy looks mint in whatever Blades kit he’s wearing.

I’m not religious in anyway shape or form so please forgive me if my terminology is incorrect.

I ain’t buying the Wilder not liking Seriki because of his religion in the slightest.

Brewster was a practising Muslim regularly looking to the heavens during games.

Anel was also outspoken about his regions beliefs as a Muslim.

So why would he sign Brewster and have Anel as a near ever present in his teams and dislike Seriki for being Christian. Doesn’t make sense at all. Infact, as a middle aged white British bloke you’d think he’d have far more understanding of Femis beliefs than the other two.

It’s clearly not that

He’s had a pop at both Brooks and Seriki for not working hard enough in training and being inconsistent. We don’t see training but assuming it’s true then it needed to happen to give them their best chance of success. They’re both showing some more consistency now and getting more minutes on the pitch. He’s praised them when they’ve played well and had a pop when he doesn’t think they’ve done enough. Seems as simple as that to me.

Holding my hands up, probably should have thought more before posting my original post, which started that conversation.

Great news on the signing, hopefully helps Seriki even more my giving him some cover and someone to challenge for the starting space.

I would guess that is because we play in the Championship and to stand a chance of getting out of it you need as many decent Championship players as possible.
