Good to see five of our promising crop be given Professional contracts, congratulations lads!

Policemen, I mean pro footballers are getting younger! Makes me feel old.

White laces? Next he'll be asking for orange boots!

Well done to them all, hopefully see them playing in the future.

Good luck lads. I believe that at least one of you posts on here. If so, your views in football in general and United in particular will be well received

It's always good to see local players coming through the system and we've heard really encouraging things about these guys.

If they do read/post on here: good luck; and don't let the miserable buggers in the stands get you down :)

Anyone seen much of these? Any lowton, walker, naughton, jags, sharp, diego, or even a monty ;-) amongst them? owt to be excited about and likely to see anything of them in the coming years?

If any of these are remotely threatening the first team squad then I reckon our nearly-men from the FA Youth Cup Final will be shuffled on all the quicker. Harsh world, football.

The lad on the left is trying to get a sweet out of its wrapper in his pocket. The lad on the right is so dissapointed he's eaten all his:).

What's Diego done so far that's impressed you so much?
Heard Dimaio the pick of the bunch but as with all youngsters I think a bit of time and patience is required before we build them into world beaters.

Does the fact they've all signed pro mean they are ineligible for the Youth Cup? Considering going to the next round at Millwall...

Only seen them once in the nine nil win against Worcester in the youth cup, The middle one Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a hat trick and looks a real prospect.
The other one to score a hat trick, Jake Eyre, didn't come on till the second half and went off with about ten minutes to go but scored his hat trick in about 20/25 minutes, keep an eye on him as well...

Can someone provide a bit of info on who they are and what they are like?

I know quite a few on here have seen plenty of them, maybe they'll think the same as me?

For starters, they're all midfielders. Reed, Dimaio and Whiteman all prefer to play deeper while Khan and Calvert-Lewin are attacking midfielders.

They're all good technically, I would say Calvert-Lewin is probably the most naturally gifted of the 5. Reed and Whiteman can pick passes all day, Khan is great playing just behind the striker and gets plenty of goals. Dimaio is a good holding midfielder but he's good with the ball too.

As for picking the best of the bunch, it's hard to say. They're all at a similar level in different ways, but they have plenty of work to do. If they think they've made it now then they won't, but I'm sure they'll be level headed enough to realise that the hard work starts for them now.

No, they can still play. It's purely age related. I'm aiming to get down to Millwall too :)

Daz, has Jake Eyre got a contract do you know ? He is listed in the squad on the official website, presumably by virtue of being named as a sub for one game.

He seems to have banged in a lot of goals particularly at the start of the season. I've not seen any U18 games this season but I was expecting him to be amongst this group unless he's even younger and it's not yet appropriate ?

Just wondered if you knew.

I believe Calvert-Lewin is the only one that was born in Sheffield and Dimaio is from Chesterfield. The other three must be from Manchester area as someone said in another thread that three of them were at Man U

Khan and Whiteman definitely came from Man Utd.

He's definitely old enough, but I'm not sure if he's been offered a deal or not. I expected him to, maybe he will later on in the season. I know he's struggled with injuries recently.

Khan and Whiteman were both at Man U, Reed and Dimaio are both Chesterfield. Maybe Dimaio did have a stint at Man U.
