Club World Cup starts on 15th, so think it's to avoid a scenario where one competing team buys up another one's star striker immediately before it kicks off. Plus they've moved the start of the window to earlier than usual so that out of contract players like Ronaldo and, er, Rhian Brewster get a chance to sign for a side that's playing in it

Sky will have to shoehorn it in somewhere between the Betfair tiddly winks Open and the Asian table tennis championships. Probably around 4.24pm.

Club World Cup starts on 15th, so think it's to avoid a scenario where one competing team buys up another one's star striker immediately before it kicks off. Plus they've moved the start of the window to earlier than usual so that out of contract players like Ronaldo and, er, Rhian Brewster get a chance to sign for a side that's playing in it

Its to allow any team competing in the CWC to sign players before the tournament. So in fact it would be possible to sign another teams best striker before the tournament.

As I understand it the "rules" dictate how many days the transfer window can be open in the summer - and if you want it to close on Sep 1st it would normally not have opened until June 6th or something
