To be honest i hope we haven't sacked him - both because of the compo and because it would be a low blow to give to Warnock. None the less let's rejoice that he's gone.

This is crap we either have a top quality manager lined up (not gary speed) or why did we give him summer? it has to be mr Oneil or someone like that.
Mccabe would not Knee Jerk like that.

SSN: "We understand that Kevin Blackwell has been sacked after losing 3-0 at home to QPR..."

Still no confirmation.

maybe o'neill quit villa so that he could come and work with wank players like kozluk quinn and taylor??

Where on SSN - on the Wed?

You were either joking, or pissed out of your head, when you suggested we'd got O'Neil lined up. Or are you just insane?

:)

Never said that. how crap have the club behaved to give him all closed season?

so it appears that there is other factors. thats what i was getting at.
Board at sufc has other things in pipeline.

I think they should have got rid of him at the end of the season.

bad timing IMO.

but hes gone & now we need someone to steady the ship.

Wonder if it's owt to do with the potential new investment and trips to Malaysia ???

There have been rumours about changes for a while. Seems they were true...

You simply don't sack a manager after 2 league games unless there's a subplot. :(

The statement C&Ped for those who can't get on the OS:

Following the home defeat to QPR, Sheffield United and Kevin Blackwell have jointly agreed to part company with immediate effect.

Kevin Blackwell has worked tremendously hard over the last two and a half years and his record in terms of results is equal to if not better than most previous managers at Bramall Lane. He will always have a warm welcome at Sheffield United.

However, it is time for us to move on because our ambition remains the same in challenging for promotion, hence this decision to look for a new manager to carry on the work Kevin has been doing.

What a shambles. I can only hope that there is a plan...else why have we let him survive into the new season for only 2 games and recruit new players. The only thing I can see is that the new man will get some resources to recruit before the end of the transfer window. I also saw on Sky Sports news that there are some decent players on offer with premierhip credentials but ony got the end of the story...anybody see it?

About bloody time he should of gone after the play off final.

Right let me look around for some money so I can make the next home game! :D

Someone came on P & G and said that there is new investors coming in who didn't want Blackwell as manager, so he was going whatever.

Don't have any negative feeling for Blackwell, a good man trying to do his best with both his hands tied behind his back. He was never the best manager in the world and his style of football didn't help him. However, Blackwell will be replaced by the next cheap option (Speed at a guess) and we will bimble along. Problem for me is that Blackwell going is only part of the solution. Hope I am wrong and Speed is the tactical and motivational genius we need, but I have my doubts.

Fingers crossed that this is the turning point and if nothing else, the quality of football improves.

Can't argue with the decision. Whether you're a member of the "sunshine gang" or a so called "clapper" I dont think anyone can say this isn't the right thing to do. As ive stated previously, ive had my doubts about him for a while now but have got behind him for the most part because it seemed the right thing to do.

After watching an incompetent display of defending today and a lack of imagination going forward (humiliating in fairness), I felt inside that the axe was hovering. I couldn't imagine how quickly it would happen but they have definately done the right thing. It is a real shame they didnt act before pre-season and have wasted a lot of time but they have nipped the situation in the bud now at least.

Regardless of what anyone else thinks KB did try his best and I for one wish him all the best for the future. You just weren't good enough in the end mate (perhaps your team wasn't either). My prediction is Gary Speed to get it. Seems like the cheap and obvious choice, but I would like to see more imagination personally.

Its been a slow lingering death since the playoff final balls up. I still don't understand how McCabe thought anything positive would come out of persuading him to stay on.
