southampton goalkeeper, I believe 3rd choice now but was 1st choice under Adkins.

Old, but has played in this league and been promoted so knows what it takes. Might still have abit of quality.

Decent keeper but surely he is not far off calling it a day?

He covered in net for Southampton last year. Hardly a gamble.

Suggested this guy in my "Adkins Former Players" thread a while back.

I think he's exactly what we need. An experienced old head who is still a quality keeper and will keep the back line organised

Yep, I'd be happy with him signing for a year.

Long is a long way from beng good enough and Howard seems unable to shift his back problem which massively impacts his performance when not fully fit.

Don't see why not

If Shay Given can still do it having had 4 great grandchildren, I'm sure Kelvin Davis can in L1.

Kelvin Davis has been a great keeper down the years. Shame it's been a lot of years and he's about 40. Can he still dive around at that age

I have admired him over the years and think that he could do better for us than a timid Long and an injured Howard

I checked him out on Wikipedia because I remember him playing for Wimbledon when they played at Crystal Palace Ground against us in the early 2000's. We were flying high and Wimbledon were not the force of old and it seemed that the points were as good as ours, there for the taking. Warnock named a weaker side than normal but we still battered them. Davies played an absolute blinder and kept us out almost single handedly.. If memory serves, they pinched a goal and won the match. Incidentally, it was one of the coldest night games that I ever attended.

Should go for Kelvin Davies on loan, doesn't get much of a game for Soton, played under Adkins before and has bags of experience.

He currently seems to be no.2 whilst Foster is out (he played against Leicester), but a good call for January.

Thing is, when we sign old players they always turn out to be totally past it.

Don't be stupid he is 39 year old

Lots of goalkeepers played until well into their 40s. David James, Friedel and Ogrizovic just off the top of my head. I bet all of those are still better than Howard currently is!

Kelvin Davies probably isn't the answer though.

To be fair, Davies was stealing a living when he was younger, now he's just laughing at them!

got no chance until Forster is fit as Davis is currently the sub GK.

Not sure he's the answer though

Heard Steve Harper on the radio this morning. Same sort of age and doing nothing currently by the sounds of it. Still seems to fancy playing though.

Either one would be better than our current choices irrespective of age.

Probably better options out there for us. He would have been a decent shout a couple of years ago.

I can remember him playing against us about 5-10 years ago and he was one of the best keepers I'd seen at the lane. Rob Green around that time for Norwich was another brilliant keeper in that league.

I'd take that Gazzaniga from Soton.
3rd choice and sat on his hands with 30 Prem games under his belt.
