Il wait on the venue announcement.......Eddie Hearn says this every year since 2011 but nothings ever come of it and they went to the arena instead. Kell fills the arena when he fights nobodys, spence is quite a big name now so with a half decent under card, i reckon it will sell out. Also because there hasnt been any good fights at the lane since Bomber Graham 30 odd years ago. We are THE boxing city, it will be a cracking night, as long as it doesnt rain. They will come. Imagine GCB being sung by 40k on sky ppv ! UTB

I know we're hoping to not have to worry about the play offs this year but you'd hope they'd avoid 20 May just in case. If we did end up at Wembley there'd be quite a few people at Wembley who would have liked to have gone to the boxing. I reckon it would impact the crowd for the fight if it is at Bramall Lane.

When Bomber Graham fought at the Lane in the mid 80s, think they only opened the South Stand (which was full) with ring obviously at SS side of the pitch, plus ringside. What's the Lane hold 33/34k, plus 10k seats on the pitch, mid 40ks I'd guess, depends who ends up fighting as to whether it's a sell out.

Why is Sheffield THE boxing city? Manchester has more successful boxers and gyms (if you include the surrounding greater manchester area). We seem to be lagging behind a bit.

Proportionally we do pretty bloody well though don't we?? And I'd think we've had more World Champions than Manchester. They may have more boxers, but it's way bigger & far more reason to need to have a faight round there anyway

There's no way they'd have it at the Lane on 20th May, there's no way they'd risk with the L1 po final on the same day. If we were at Wembley that day, 40-50 buses and thousands of Blades descending on the Lane, departing in the morning arriving back some time in the evening and a huge boxing show on at the Lane attracting thousands on the same day, logistically it's just not going to happen, powers that be would not allow it. That's without going into the financial hit the boxing and the final would cop for with fans having to choose between the two. 27th would be the better bet.

I meant currently, most of those are retired. I don't think we're producing as many as we did, relatively speaking, given the popularity of boxing and the UK having so many world champions. I'd have expected us to have a couple more, tbh.

I'm not saying we've not got a good pedigree, we certainly have. That's why I'd have thought we might have produced a few more, British boxing is doing really well at the moment. I think we used to be one of the dominant forces outside London but I'm not sure we are as much now.

I can't see ticket sales for this bout hitting the heights that would require the use of a football stadium to be honest. Amir Khan would be a differ matter. Not because it would be a better bout, but would certainly shift more tickets.
Unless marketing indicates it's going to sell upwards of 20k I'd have the ring nearer to the BL stand and not use the kop at all.

Should have had the Khan / Brook fight next week at the Arena. Although I doubt SYP would have been to keen on Blades & Bolton fans heading over there together after the game.
