I've just finished reading the Keith Edwards book. It was an interesting read, I first watched him playing in the old 4 div days. Never realised the struggles he had behind the scenes!!. He speaks very highly of porterfield and begara!. His love for the blades throughout his whole playing career and afterwards is very evident!. A good read.

Half way through it. A decent read, I must find time to read the other half.

I've not read Keith's book but remember seeing him smacking in loads of half chances. I've heard many of his radio commentaries and its clear he gets frustrated when we have possession and go sideways and backwards. In his day he thrived on balls knocked forward early when it was fifty fifty him against the last defender and he scored lots from it. I have a lot of time for Keith, he realises to be successful in the modern game a team must be offensive and get forward quickly before the opposition's defence are in position and to get lots of efforts on goal early. Giving the oppostion time to park the bus doesn't work in higher leagues.

Brilliant finisher KE I'd agree best finisher I've seen for us ( I think Billy's a very similar player ) and had the trademark placed free kick into postage stamp top corner remember a peach at Lincoln ,also remember him scoring for Hull against us at Boothferry Pk he didn't celebrate , week later Porterfield had signed him so I think that's why lol , him & Colin Colin Morris on the wing on the wing . I'd seen us drop from 1st to 4th div and the that 4th division season was like winning the lotto , World Cup & champions league all at once . Halcyon Days again .

Me & my mate spoke to him in the car park before that game, we'd seen Roger Wylde in town as we went for the coach to Hull, the rumour was we were about to sign Wylde,so we asked him....
Roger just smiled and said " dunno, but someone who might score against you today is a better bet"
On seeing Edwards get out of his Capri, we raced across, and asked him outright, He said " you never know" ...
A week later,Edwards had re-signed ,and proceeded to write his name in the history books ,and help blast us out of the fourth division.

Great striker but the book is average at best along with many other footballers autobiographies.
Agree toally; read it a couple of years ago and it's interesting only for the Blades element.

Read the Tony Kenworthy book recently, having bought it at the same time as the Edwards book, and found that an interesting read, especially about his time inside!

I thought it was a good read. I'm always interested in what players really thought about their managers in particular. Edwards relationship with Porterfield was interesting as at times he described him as distant and rowed with him when he dropped him but still respected him and of course went on to play for him at Aberdeen. Keith's book and various other players quotes reveal how disastrous the appointments of Sirrel and Haslam were. Edwards book also reveals his fall out with McEwen was the reason for him leaving. I always assumed he was over 30 at this point but in fact he was only 29.

Edwards is the best finisher I have seen play for United. Deane was a better alround striker but whenever Edwards was one on one with the keeper I expected him to score and he generally did.
Totally agree1 on 1 he was lethal, always remember the 1-0 win over Bradford in old div 4, Edwards lethal, My memory of Brian Deane was when he and Tony Agana(and wibblywobblywoo) scored at molineux2:2 blades n wolves both promoted!
Loads o great memories from this season too!

One memory of Sir Keith that always makes me chuckle is the Wigan game at home in the 4th Division,Larry Lloyds post match interview when he said `Keith Edwards, hes only had 1 kick,i have marked him out of the game`,yes you might have Larry, but that one kick was the one that won us the game.

I remember an opposition defender being quoted as saying something like 'you hear about his goal record, then you play against him and think "he's not all that, he doesn't do much" then the ball is in the back of the net and you're thinking "what happened there?"

Read the Kenworthy book as well Tynemouth, safe to say Martin( I won 33% of the World Cup) peters wasn't his favourite manager.

I recently read the Edwards book too and really enjoyed it. Interesting that he was quite critical of a few managers such as Jimmy Sirell, Billy McEwan and Eoin Hand, but TC said he really got on with Jimmy Sirrell.
