On the ground, we aint won nowt ! Cheap as chips will fc uk up..... There's nowt as sure. Let's hope he get past the first hurdle.... The pigs game.

The pigs match should be the marker.

When you think about the amount of points dropped to them last season would of seen us promoted automatically.

We've all been here too many times to get excited yet Beighton. Its a good solid start to the season, but there are five really strong teams in this division (Us, Barcodes, Boro, West Brom, Cardiff) and only three places to play for. Another ten games will start to seperate the probables from the possibles. A win on Friday would sure help, and put the piggies back in their place...

Its a long season and I dont think any clear picture will emerge until well after xmas.

Normally, 2 points per game is Championship winning form and even though it's only 6 games, there are 5 teams with that or better.

Our form is as pretty much as we'd expect, difficult to beat, strong away but maybe not adventurous enough at home. 12 points is a decent return from the fixtures we've had though and every reason to expect we'll be in the thick of it again. I still think we're lacking that bit of class though, the players to turn the tight games on a regular basis and we'll definitely struggle when injuries/suspensions start kicking in, particularly if it's the key players.

Having David Cotterill in the side would go a long way to addressing this, but Presumably for reasons that escape me Blackwell is waiting until we start losing to select him, like last February...

Boring, boring Beighton!? Same drivvle every time. How was meadowhall on Saturday?

I personally am pretty excited. I am not getting carried away with our good start, but I look at our squad and think that we have a very good chance this year. People keep saying we'll know after we play X. We'll have an idea after we have played Y. But we have already taken points in fixtures that we wouldn't have done last year and are unbeaten so far. We stuff a team, or get a good result, and then it's oh no that doesn't matter wait til we play Z.

Have to dsiagree with you Dunc; Cardiff are not a strong team. The others yes. Mark my words: the top for will be us and the 3 relegated teams. Newcastle are looking good but don't have a manager (so what happens when they lose a few games?). Boro look strong but have a shit manager. West brom look good but have an unproven manager. We will be right up there.

There is every reason to read into our results so far. There is a good reason to get excited. There is not a better first 11 in the division than ours! On top of this we have 5 or 6 good players who can slot in. I am not getting replying to that eind up merchant Beighton, but saying to the rest of you Blades fans cheer the hell up and look forward to the season ahead with some optimism!!

For me, he's doing the same thing with Wardy as he did last year with Halford, picking players first and then trying to develop a system rather than picking a team with round pegs in round holes. He wants to play Hendo and Ched but also wants to fit Wardy in so he plays him on the wing.

I'm with you, Cotts should be playing. I'd like to see his assists per game ratio but I bet it's better than anyone's when he actually plays.

Great start to the season - and showing good promise.

But this is Blackwell.....

Personally I think there only 4 strong teams in this division. I don't rate Cardiff, I think they have a decent goal threat but that's it. I don't think they have beaten any decent teams yet and have been fortunate (as have Wednesday) that the fixture computer gave them an easy start.

I don't think anyone is getting carried away but apart from the Leicester result it has been as good a start as could of been expected.
We should look to get 6 points from the next two but 4 would still make it an excellent start to the season especially given the opposition.
The only concern for us is the same as last season. Do we possess a real goal threat? Hopefully Evans will come into his own and I would expect us to sign someone to strengthen us in that area. Apart from that things are actually looking good.

Why do people get this image of Cotterill as a devastating winger setting up goal after goal? He simply does not do this and that is why he is not a regular in the team. OK, we scored a from a few of his corners when Beattie was about but I guess you are talking about open play goals (I'm not saying corners don't count by the way, but I'd like to think we'd score a few whoever takes a half decent corner).

I'm not directly having a go at Cotterill and he has improved for me this season in terms of his overall impact and involvement when he's on the pitch, but how many times have we scored from his crosses - very, very few in my recollection. Mind you, it is very, very rare that our goals come from a couple of passes and a shot/header so he probebly is leading in open play assists with 2 in 50 games or something like that. His cross are aither dinked up in the air or fall short - either way they are too easy to defend against for me - or not attacked properly which is not his fault obviously. I like his pace in the team, his runs are often excellent at starting attacks and his goal at Reading shows we have a player of real potential, but I think I'd just about prefer what Ward can offer in terms of goals and involvement in play

The top 3 are pretty much as you would expect although Newcastle have surprised me with all that is going on there. Thin squad though so as and when they get suspensions/injuries it should be interesting.

We are doing exactly what we need to. In touch with the leaders and not dropping points. Dull as hell to watch in the main but it has been that way for a while now.

Blackwell is limited but works well within his limitations. I think we have had the best transfer window in a good few years with the ins and outs, a couple of good loan signings would turn us into top 2 material.

Still cautiously optimistic myself. McCabe has kept the reins tight and rightly so. There are many teams pushing themselves to the limit financially (Portsmouth anyone?) and the bubble of money in football could burst quite easily at any time.

Beighton, what if this were your money? Would you be splashing it around in the current environment? Naa, didn't think so. Wind your neck in and get behind the lads, you know it makes sense.

Micalijo. Good points regarding the crosses to goals thing. But Cotts gives us a more direct attacking threat on the wing than almost anyone else. I assume Blackwell thinks Ward does that down the left which is why he plays. Also Jamie can link up with Hendo/Chedders when the chance comes. I don't think that works all that well because by the time we get to link up Ward has had to run half the length of the field and his burst of pace gone.

As for corners, you mention us taking good corners. I wouldn't take that for granted because I can remember a succession of terrible corners when Warnock was manager. Tonge, Keef and the rest rarely beat the first man. At least we are getting the ball in the mixer these days.

What thar on about Bladesway ?, all i've said is keep yer feet on the ground.

Mind yer 6 points from the next two games an yer can jump in the air !

as far as Cotterill goes he's to nesh for my liking.
