Karl Robinson

Said it last time but it's all 'Emporer's New Clothes' for me with Robinson. Seems to be marking time with MK, Wilson was sacked having done better than him last season. He looks like Weir 3 years down the line but as others have said, give him a chance if true.

I'm not sure that using Wilsons sacking as an example of good decision making is a particuarly smart...

What I meant was, if Robinson (or his team) had been performing to the same level as he has with MK, it would more than likely have been seen as not good enough and he'd have been sacked. If appointed, the Board obviously think he'll have better tools to do the job here and that's the issue, not sure he has.

If it's true would'nt have been my choice but will back the man , was almost embarrassed when interviewed after beating us at the lane this year , there come's a time in everyone 's job were you know it's time to move on is this his moment . A bigger club have made it's intentions clear , would you hold back , it's a bit like Moyes at manu , he knows this league well , as for MK Dons i think there a team punching above their weight getting good results but only able to go so for with what they have , bit like pullis at stoke , could this be our Bournemouth momemt , fucking hope so as only got 1 point in predictions league from united so far this season .

MK Dons have four defeats in their last five matches. Are they heading for another mid table finish under him? I've seen him talk about how many passes they've had in games, is his philosophy identical to Weir's?
Definitely. Over the last 3 seasons MK Dons are the most boring opposition to come to the Lane. They pass the ball backwards and sideways more than we did under Weir. They are strong on set pieces though and many of their goals are scored from well rehearsed corners or free kicks

Robinson was my summer choice, and I'll be pleased if it is confirmed. Realistically the best two choices we have are Greyson and Robinson.

As long as he leaves Smith at MK I'm happy.

although if it is Robinson or turns out to be Clough either would get my full support, i can't help but think an old head is needed to get us out of this shit we are in. We are in need of a quick fix to get out of the relegation places and a younger manager may need time for the team to adapt to there style of play this is time we do not have.

Oh don't for get the dot on your forehead .

100% backing from me, but you do worry its the boring, low tempo passing along the back four which Weir favoured.

If they want Clough and he wants to come then we should wait. Is Robinson just second choice?

That is not really much of a recommendation. Last season only 8 sides failed to grind out a result at Bramall Lane, and this season only one side has failed to do so.

Fine but then struggling to think of a league one team who have taken more points off us in the last 3 seasons. As I said I'm not sure he is the right man for our current situation but I pretty strongly believe he was the right man in the summer.

Whoever gets the job will get my support, whatever that is worth so it is pointless clutching names out of mid air. However, I am concerned that Karl Robinson built a good (but as yet unsuccessful if promotion is the yardstick) side at MK with the experience of John Gorman behind him. For that reason, I am as much interested, should KR be appointed, in who will provide similar, experienced support for him as I am in KR himself. I think that the make up of the whole management team is at least as important as the manager himself. This is where we are missing someone of the calibre of Derek Dooley to steady the ship.

There are surely better measures than that. How many points have we had off Bournemouth in the last two years and where are they in the football pyramid? It's not just about taking points off one team.

I think this will be a safe appointment (if true), even if not spectacular. At the end of the day the other options being banded about are either unrealistic or fairly unappealing. He knows the league well, has a team that is tough to break down and has a style that could well suit our players. It is important that we can move forward straight away, and not have to wait for wholesale changes in January.

This is exactly how we need to be thinking. He has been better when having a bit of experience with him in either Gorman or Harford. Carsley was Weir's concrete slippers.

This job is too big for a young manager by himself. He needs his best men round him and we need to help him with that. Winter and Stephenson need to leave to allow us to do a clean sweep

What interests me is the invisibility of Winter these days. I'm not one to ask "what does Winter do for the Club?" For all I know he may be doing a brilliant job behind the scenes, but Jim Phipps seems to have become the link between the Board and the fans.

As he is my number one choice I put money on him. Top fan me!

I don't usually put money on things, but I'll be putting money on Robinson getting the sack (should he unfortunately be appointed) after promising the earth, talking bollox and ultimately failing to get us promoted !

Whatever gets you through the day pal

Robinson's agent says there's no truth in the rumours, he doesn't know where they've come from, and it would be unusual for an agent to say that if it wasn't true, rather than the club.

Paul Walker now tweeting that Robinson is out of the running and Russell Slade now looks the most likely appointment.
