The kind of players Wilder seems to love signing puts me in mind of something I still remember from 40 years ago on Saint & Greavesie.

It came when Trevor Francis had returned from Italy and signed for Souness at Glasgow Rangers. Ian St John commented on the unusual nature of the contract in that Francis had signed on a pay-as-you-play basis of £2,000 a game.

Not like hes not had other chances with west ham and ipswich since then is it 30 games in nearly 4 years is pathetic sure we had brewster doing same cheerleading pulling a a wage sat in a&e like this fucker does for years dragging silly money but give them a chance eh give someone else on less money and less reputation to come and tear league up with no fear hes 30 year old barely got much longer left in his legs paying silly loan wages to sit in bench for 6 months ill come back here when hes moaned at every week for being dead on his feet or injured again better still sent back to city in january when hes out rest of season pathetic move playing it safe with a name we never learn been there last year did fuckall but blame injurys to have another chance why dont we

He actually looked very good in his 2.5 games until he got sent off.

Apologies for being pedantic, but it wasn't even 2 full matches (subbed on at 67 mins vs Boro, full game vs Pompey, sent off at 49mins vs the filth).

My issues are primarily related to our return on investment, and how dismal that would have been in his spell with us last year. We played 17 games after the Phillips deal was done - remove the Oxford game (as I don't remember if he was registered in time for that one or if he just wasn't fit enough), plus the 3 games he was suspended for, and that's <2 of 13 games that he appeared in, in an approx. 3 month period (Start of Feb - start of May). Considering how tight our budget for this season seemingly is, we cannot afford to have a player is so consistently unavailable.

He's not going to play for them, so he might as well play for someone and that someone might as well be us. He likes it here. If he stays fit, plays well, and gets a run in the side that increases his resale value for them.

You're just assuming that. If his wages were going to break the bank he wouldn't be here, it really is that simple.

He won't be match fit for weeks meaning we'll basically a midfielder short for weeks. Wilders other target being Souttar will also fuck off to the Asia cup or whatever it is, and miss a bunch of games.

Can't understand the negativity behind this signing.
It's a LOAN ffs. We've not splashed millions on him. Ok no doubt his wages will be high. Yes he's had a history of injuries.
But he's also a player of some quality. Something we need.
If he does get a long term injury......... he goes back to Citeh to recuperate and we don't pay anything while he does. ( not entirely sure it works like that but I would hope that's the case)
What have we got to lose? If he performs to his potential then great. If not he goes back
