The fact is they were culpable. The only reason they are not being prosecuted is that the contemporaneous legal entity no longer exists. This was not a simple misfortune. Trust me, they would be in the dock if it were legally possible.

Could it have nearly happened at any ground 8 years before where the club had no safety certificate for a decade and the Local Authority allowed it to happen? I think not.

Bramall Lane didn't have that same certificate around the same time.

They got away with a disaster the year before because they had a strong police commander, who made several suggestions on safety after witnessing the cramped conditions . Wednesday were told to put in streaming barriers from gates to pens , didnt do it, they were told to cut the numbers in there ,didnt do it, should have been 1600 less tickets sold.

The lack of council pressure on wednesday is in direct conflict to how they treat United
If you remember when John St stand opened they kept sections closed due to hawk like safety certificate scrutiny
They never seem to do anything at Hillsborough
The World Cup bid , we had to supply 4 different offers with costed detail down to stewards for seats

To be honest I'm amazed that Leppings Lane stand is still there in more or less the same state it was in April 89 (same tunnel etc albeit with a few blue seats bolted on).

Whilst that stand may no longer be a death trap it should still be demolished given the levity of what happened there as per 25 Cromwell Street or Haute de la Garrene.

There was an article in the Liverpool Echo when Strafford was in charge where he assured them it would be demolished and totally rebuilt .considering he is worth 2 m it was as is the owls way big talk from a tin pot club

To be fair though, when is "the right time"? I don't know what most of the stands are like now, but I went on the Lepping Lane for a friendly last pre season, and to me it looked very tired. On the plus side, it was nice to see an old workmate working with the stewards. Not too well though and it wasn't looking good for him, I really hope he's ok. He used to do the players tunnel at the lane and would get me tickets from time to time.

You obviously think he should have. From memory, his stance - along with a few others - was 'signing a convicted rapist is wrong'. Which he was at the time. You go with the law of the land, I'm afraid. A jury convicts and clears people, not us.
