Just for fun… if we could suddenly be chasing a league win and an FA cup… would your risk the biscuits? Which would you choose?

Will your put on your sensible shoes, or will give it the good old “fuck it, let’s have it” beauties?

This stems from a conversation with my 16yo lad yesterday when I was saying I hope Burnley beat Boro on Friday. He didn’t understand why I was wanting to give up on the title. He said that, and I quote, “second if the first loser” 😂. Good lad

Over to you, blades.

Edit: yeah, I meant Burnley 🙈

Would Boro and Luton stay the same distance behind United?

Second isn’t the first loser if you also go up haha.

Hardly anyone cares about a title that no team is ever around to defend. We’re so screwed if we don’t go up, so I’ll take it any which way.

We just need to go up, no one will care about the Championship title if we’re in the Premier League next season.

I'm very much a sensible shoes man in this sort of a situation. We need 16 points - the quicker we reduce that number by picking up points and others dropping them the better.

Having said that, if we emerge from this weekend still 6 points ahead, I'll be more than happy - if that means both us and Boro have beaten Burnley then so be it.

I think a lot are looking at Friday and thinking we'll win and Boro will drop points - that's far far away from guaranteed. Getting out of this weekend with the same gap to 2nd/3rd would be a very good result for us.

If we had been offered the chance of an FA Cup win or a Championship 2nd place at start of season we would have gone for the Cup win.
I'd be happy just to get to the final. (which we won't)

I'm 67 years old and United haven't been to a proper cup final (excluding the county cup and Watney cup) in my life time.

I'd pass on promotion every time if you offered me an F.A. Cup final in it's place.

I've seen lots of promotions and I want to see us in a cup final before I pop my clogs.

MB are you saying go up and then we dont have the wherewithall to stay up anyway.?!
No, i'm saying if we don't go up this season, we are absolutely screwed!

-Fire sale
-Transfer Embargos
-Points deduction

The only way out of the Championship if we don't go up this season is down to League 1

I know what you mean. But... the future of the entire football club hangs in balance if we don't get promoted

There was a point earlier in the season when I was willing Burnley to drop points because I thought we were good enough for the title. When they came from behind to beat WBA (who looked like they were set to be doing the Boro role around then) I was really fucked off.
I changed my tune pretty quickly when Boro started coming at us and still remain that way. Just get this one over the line.

We were good enough, injuries have held us back

I'm older than you Pop and I echo those sentiments.

FA Cup Win > promotion
Promotion > FA Cup final (though it's close)
