He's scored bags of goals in other Championship teams. A good manager would build his confidence and get him scoring.

Interesting to see him in and Ched Evans in same squad given they were in a top scorer battle 7 years ago

Looking at his goal record in last 6 seasons 28>25>21>11>6>3 he should be good for 1 or 2 next season.

Not for me, not done it for a while now, well publicised bottler for not taking that pen last season, for that kind of outlay there's probably better out there.

In the Robin Hood at Hathersage couple weeks ago. CW was sat at bar with another 2 blokes. Said "eyup" to him and plonked my arse at a table. CW and the blokes left shortly afterwards. The man serving drinks was talking about him and Jordan Rhodes. Said Rhodes had been in the pub earlier with family aswell. Reckoned it looked like they were surprised to see each other but did spend about 20-30mins talking. A nothing story I thought, until spoke to a pal of mine (that's usually not far off with rumours) on eccy road today. He reckons Rhodes has had a couple of meetings with wilder who believes Rhodes, in the right team, could be an astute acquisition. Sounds like we're in dialogue with them about a season loan. He's on around 36k PW with us not willing to go above the 20k max structure in place. Personally, at 20k a week, I'd take a plunge, with perhaps a return clause after new year.

If there's mileage in this suggestion can we have guarantees about the possibility of Rhodes taking pens? The last thing we need is any player shying away from the responsibility of taking a penalty. To be honest, not sure if this has legs, just as I'm unsure about Rhodes value to the way we play.

..woz with you up to @£20k a week though.
Quite a nice story up till then...:D:D:D

This thread is post season whimsy, why don't people just chill

Personally, with a bit of Wilder and Knill magic dust sprinkled, I think Rhodes could be a sensation in our side TBH.

UTB

I agree - with the right sort of service I could easily see him top 20 in a season.

He's just shot of confidence and Weds don't play in a way that serves up enough chances for him

BS or not, could you actually imagine how hilarious it would be if we somehow managed to loan him and he then banged in 20 goals for us. The levels of bitterness from S6 would be easier to see from space than the Great Wall of China.

In the right team, with the right play style he'd score bags and bags of goals. Would be rather amusing if he came to us and started scoring again. Can't see it personally..

The ONLY thing about this that makes any sense whatsoever is that the pigs will probably be desperate to offload some wages so they can actually bring new blood in. I’d imagine Rhodes will be top of their “bin list”. They’ll also be well aware that they wont get anywhere near what they paid. So I could well see them allowing him out on loan for a wage percentage.

I could also see Wilder possibly thinking he could get him going again- Mr Coutts, anyone?

Logistically though, cant see it. If he’s a hit, do they just pul him back in January? And if CW has finally got 20k a week to throw at a striker, would he really spend it on a gamble?

There is no way Chris will gamble £1m of his budget. If we can get him for £5k p/w then we should do it, but not at £20k, that would be ridiclous

No thank you. Never rated him. Nothing to his game apart from scoring and he hasn't even done that for a while.

A loan here would really undermine the rivalry and competitiveness between us and Wednesday. It would feel totally wrong.

Absolutely love the posibility of a 36k a week footballer taking his family out to eat in the Little John. :D:D:D

Maybe he was there to speak to the manager of Hathersage United and ran into Mr Wilder, I mean, it could happen?
