Perspective is a funny thing. On another thread people are calling for Diedhou at Bristol City but I know a few of their supporters that don’t rate him at all. Lots of opinions seem to be formed off the back of individual games.

I’m one who doesn’t rate the lad, much.
A unit, yes
Strong and works hard, yes
A handful and a nuisance, yes
However, I think he is limited in his skill and control and my impression (not certain the stats bear this out) is that his finishing is not great - and at a price tag of £6m when he joined BC I am certain he was way over priced.
I know people will point out that he bullied our defence in the last game at BL but I don’t buy that he has sufficient quality to play any higher than the championship.

Boro fans are a decent bunch but I wouldn't pay too much attention to what they think of certain players, such is the footballing inhibition Pulis has expertly instilled. They're playing a different sport.

That said, I don't think Hugill's good enough at football for the PL. He's a workhorse and a decent all round centre forward but he's only 6 foot and won't even win much in the air to compensate for the lack of skill.

I also wonder if he has much hunger left. That contract West Ham generously donated to him will be ridiculous relative to his ability.

I can only go on what I saw on their board when they played us and it seemed none could understand how he was starting above Assombolonga. Here are a few tweets from Boro fans about him I've just found too. This is not to say Wilder wouldn't get a tune from him obviously.

This is the situation, a Venn diagram may illustrate it quite well. The guys at the lane have pulled some cracking rabbits out of hats up to the arrival of Norwood, that we have released some decent lads I'm sure we have a couple of transfers 'ready to go'. And I still live in hope that Coutts will come back for another year to see if he gets the magic back.

I haven't seen enough to say whether I think he's any good or not, but I wouldn't worry about what other fans think about players - Wilder has made a habit of getting more out of players than previously thought possible.
