This guy as just put in a transfer request, there's no link to who it may be. He's described as a target man, able to out muscle most defenders. Not heard much about him before, what you reckon.
He's at Preston at the moment.

I saw this, but Reading and Wolves have bid £8m, we can't compete with that.

What's pretty worrying in this crazy day and age is that it seems we'll never be able to compete with these sorts of prices and the prices will only get higher. Any answers much appreciated?

No answers as such pal, but I just wrote this thread: https://www.s24su.com/forum/index.p...rn-day-football-are-utterly-ridiculous.57483/ I was sat watching SSN and started stewing about it all. There's a ridiculous mentality whereby everyone is paying these fees through of not being able to compete with everyone else. Circular causality - "we know it's bad, but we have to pay it, so we'll pay it, we know its bad, but we..."

Eight fucking million for this bloke? He isn't fit to lace Billy's boots or carry his bag in to the changing rooms!

What a fucking opening post that is, I doff my cap sir.

It's getting beyond ridiculous but nothing ever gets said. We all know why that is! Kerching!

So what do we do if someone turns up who is a decent Championship forward - but will cost us £9 million, pay the money (because we really need a forward) or say that we're not going to pay that much 'cos he's never worth £9m?

Your choice :)

There aren't many human beings if any at all worth paying £9m for never mind a bloke who kicks a bag of wind about.

Isn't this kid a hill out in the Peak District near Castleton?

So a bang average striker with a very average goal-scoring record, (34 goals in 129 apps) is now worth £8m plus....the world has gone mad!

"Queen's Park Rangers have emerged as favourites to sign West Ham striker Jordan Hugill on loan next season but will have to fend off competition for his signature.

Steve McClaren's side are thought to be leading the race for the 26-year-old striker, who only arrived in east London six months ago on Transfer Deadline Day for a reported £8m fee from Preston North End.

Hugill totalled just 22 minutes of first team football in the second half of last season, all of them from the substitutes bench, as he failed to force his way into the plans of then manager David Moyes.

Football.London understands that Hugill was brought in just in case the Hammers were relegated last season but as it transpired, they weren't and Hugill is not likely to be part of new manager Manuel Pellegrini's thoughts for the upcoming season.

The manager will run the rule over Hugill in pre-season but a loan move away from the club is likely. A permanent move isn't, unless the club can recoup the majority of what they shelled out for the frontman.

Hugill's former club Preston North End would be interested in a return, as would Sheffield Wednesday as they both plot a path to promotion from the Championship to the Premier League"

Forgotten man since signing for West Ham and then being loaned to Middlesbrough. I think this is one Wilder might look at. I would be tempted to sign him at a reasonable price. Still young, could do well in our team.

Boro fans think he's a pile of cat shit

Perspective is a funny thing. On another thread people are calling for Diedhou at Bristol City but I know a few of their supporters that don’t rate him at all. Lots of opinions seem to be formed off the back of individual games.

I can only go on what I saw on their board when they played us and it seemed none could understand how he was starting above Assombolonga. Here are a few tweets from Boro fans about him I've just found too. This is not to say Wilder wouldn't get a tune from him obviously.

I’m not necessarily saying he’s a good option. He just sprung to mind and I was interested in opinion. The one thing I do know about him having watched him is that he was impressive for Preston and that’s why West Ham signed him. Has perhaps shown nothing since.

No
He’s a trier but not a prem player.
In fact I think the championship is a high grade for him and to compete there he has to be at the top of his game.
Boro playing him in a lone role, up front, limits him even further.
Madine would be a far more effective.
