Forget trying to get another striker in Shelvey should be our No1 target in January if we are pushing at the top. He has just signed a one year extension and turned down Chelsea in the summer because he wants to play first team football.
By next summer a lot of West Ham type teams will be in the mix for him and I think we should move early even at the £2-3 million level.
We have been looking for years for an attacking midfielder but Shelvey can also play as a supporting forward.
It's a hell of a lot of money for a 17/18 year old but we haven't been able to find this elusive player and maybe we need to "grow our own" from an already talented youngster. We have brought in nearly £10 million this close season and the £3 Million deal for Lita was all ready to be done, so re-direct that funding.
The only question would be if we can convince him we'd be a good club for him.
Does anyone else rate this kid?
