I think he needs a couple of weeks rest. Save him for the Rotherham game. He should run rings round them.

We need someone more athletic. Not enough height and strength in our midfield. We need a tough tackling midfielder who can win a few headers too.
We have needed that player for 3 seasons at least but apparently no one at the club agrees.

I disagree but that’s just my opinion, he went to Cardiff at the end of January last season with 21 games remaining, he started 19 games and was sub twice. So he clearly is a very fit young man having gone there without playing all season and fitted straight in with no problems with fitness.

So far he started 9 games for us and been hooked in 8 of them, so really he doesn’t have many miles on the clock and should be able to play as many games as there is, he did it for Cardiff. There has been times he has been the best player on the pitch for us and looking fine fitness wise and he’s hooked. At some point our fans have to stop blaming everything on fitness and injuries and say it how it is, it’s tactical changes by the manager, the manager is entitled to make these changes whether we agree with them or not. By disagreeing does not mean you want him sacked btw. You can think he’s dropped a right bollock with that tactical sub or starting line up and still think he’s the right man for the job.

We must now be the only team in world football where the manager no longer looks at the opposition and thinks I need a big man, or I need a more mobile player around their number 5, I need someone in midfield just for this game for more possession based play etc etc etc, it will be remembered as an old art form managers once practiced at Bramall Lane. It has since died out and was replaced with players being tired and not upto fitness.
Fair enough. Good post. All about opinions!

Preferring McAtee to Ndiaye makes me doubt Hecky's competence
Replacing Doyle with tubby Fleck makes me doubt Hecky's eyesight.

It's called squad rotation.
PH doesn't prefer Ndiaye to McAtee.
Doyle needed a rest. Ndiaye needed a rest.
If you don't listen to players, if you flog them beyond their capacity, they break down and you end up with over half your squad out injured all of the time.
Oh wait...

In ten of those games for Cardiff he didn’t play a full ninety minutes. It’s also worth remembering he didn’t have much of a pre-season as he got injured.

He started 19 games, if he was taken off 10 times, you see my point is the chances are it was tactical, as he was fit enough to start the next game for them. Hence my point is he is fit enough to start the next game for us, if he is to be hooked so be it but it won’t be for fitness reasons it will be tactical reasons.. What is the point of Hecky so? Put me in charge if it is just to base the teams subs and starting lineup on what the medical team advise, seriously why we paying Hecky?

I tell you why it’s to make tactical changes/line ups on how he is reading the game, everyone who is putting everything down to fitness and in doing so think they are sticking up for him are in fact actually doing him a disservice by saying he is doing nothing along tactical lines which he’s paid for, it’s purely advice from the medical staff his decision making is coming from.

Hecky has clearly stated that training sessions gave been kept deliberately light for ages now.
If the sessions are light , I can't understand the need to rest a fit young man who is playing with intensity only once or twice a week.
Egan & Norwood don't get rested.
Admittedly none of us are fully aware of the day to day at Shirecliffe , but there are some illogical things going on + some inconsistent statements being made by management.
And there's no person in the club locally to whom Hecky answers.
He's been given carte blanche by a distant owner + that's a lot of responsibility , especially when the team has struggled ever since the owner's visit.

Whether they should or shouldn't need resting is irrelevant. They either do, or they don't and you play the hand your dealt.
Quite clearly, some of them do and it's up to PH to manage that.

Well old flecky Is currently enjoying a heavy drinking training session as we speak! According to my relative who is working at the venue he is still at pissed as a fart! Has been there all afternoon and night! And is going somewhere else now for more! I wonder if Hecky knows!

The penny has just dropped with Bert, who he reminds Bert of.....

For a decent fee, we should sell if it comes to fruition.

If they wanted to, they could sign him on a pre-contract agreement this January to join them in the Summer for free.
His contract is up in the Summer.
Would be shocked if anybody came in with a bid for him, at his age, with his injury issues and the above contract situation.

He's probably on wages disproportionate to what he can offer too.
If we could loan him out to someone willing to take 100% of his salary then that would be an interesting one to explore.. only if it enabled us to loan a midfielder until the end of the season...

Pie in the sky though. He's injured so it's very unlikely.
And it seems Hecky is having trouble convincing the Board to let us send Khadra back and bring in a replacement...

Why is the Board the problem ? Hecky has indicated that K will be here unless replaced, so perhaps it is finding a replacement this early in the window that is the problem.

Despite the newspaper gaffe regarding his current status, it makes some sense for the player and both clubs. I'd be sad to see him go as the last part of the 'holy trinity' but eventually you have to move on.

That said, I wouldn't advocate letting him go in January unless we have a replacement. We're light in midfield already.

Can’t see him staying beyond the summer. Not only is he injured more frequently, but it’s now 3 years since he had a consistent run of good performances. Quite sad that it ended like this as 3 years ago, he was unplayable at times. Seem to recall Arsenal were linked with him!

You've made me second guess myself. I thought I'd heard Hecky say words to the effect of:
'I can't let him go if I don't know whether I'll be allowed to bring anybody else in.' And he then alluded to the takeover situation potentially stopping play...

I might have misheard / misinterpreted though.

He did say something along those lines. The issue would seem to be theres no problem sending Khadra back especially as its being suggested we are paying a fair whack of his wages. Whether the Board would sanction a replacement is the implied concern for PH.

looks like hes on £25k pw

between now and 30 June thats £650k in wages

could we pick up a prem loan paying a percentage of his wages with the £25k?

I would prefer if we can bring in a replacement before letting him go, but if he stays, given we have Berge, Norwood, Doyle, Mcatee, Ndaiye and Osborn i dont think he will start a game this season. I would rather push Bash into the middle, or give Arblaster or Coulibaly a go from the bench and trouser £650k

End of an era, which is sad, but I cant recall the last game he played where he actually contributed?
Hes scored 1 goal in 3 seasons, and that was against Posh
Sadly the team evolves, thank you Flecky for the memories and good luck in your next venture

Fleck won't be going anywhere in Jan - he's far more likely to leave (with several others of the old guard) in June.

If he adds anything to the side between now and the end of the season, it should be looked as as a bonus.

Don't read too much into that article. It's just Boyd chucking names around to justify the fee for his column.

I think he often makes comments that can have several interpretations ! What seems clear is that he won’t leave unless replaced in the squad !

I'm hoping there's more interest than just Rangers, which might help us get a fee.

Good move for all, if he stays injury free he would still have another good 2/3 seasons in the Scottish prem
