Of course we could have signed John Fleck before in 2011 but for a fax machine error. Oh how I wish we had.

I believe, had we done that, he would be a cult figure (which he may well be already anyway) and a staunch dyed in the wool Blade.

How joyous it would have been to have watched this little magician playing for the Blades for the past 6 years rather than one season. I'm so pleased we ended up getting him, he's fantastic to see out there each weekend.

But would Fleck have been the same player being played at left back by our past managers

I actually rate it better , although the Brown of THAT season was the best midfielder in the last 3 decades.

Hmm, in terms of technical ability probably better but in terms of entertainment watching Brown smash them in and Tonge and Nuddy beat players for fun was something else.

We would've probably made Reading sign him as part of a mega bucks £1.25m double deal with Nick Blackman in January 2013.

Things have worked out perfectly in the end.

Our midfield is better now than brown mccall and tongue in my opinion. Different time, pace and skill levels in the game today.
Fleck on his current trajectory will be awesome but will ultimately leave us for a prem side unless we can get there ourselves this year. He is going to be that good. Age on his side and will only improve year on year but he surely has to realise that himself, Coutts and Duffy make them all perform to their best of capabilities. They compliment each other so well.
Really really hope he rips the grunters a new one on the 24th.

Seen it a few times already where Fleck is surrounded but does a quick little turn and leaves the opposition players yards behind wondering where the ball's gone, the guy is quality. Surely it can't be long before Fleck and Coutts are running the Scotland midfield as they do ours. Makes a change to see fans arguing who is our best midfielder when for years they have been arguing who was our worst.
