£9m...??? That’s just hilarious.

It’s a mockery of a travesty of a sham.

He's ONE year older than Keane and Maguire.
Anything less than 30m and everyone can fuck right off.

It is likely that we will have clubs trying to buy our better players. We don’t really want to lose any. It’s not just the money it’s finding a replacement of the same quality. CW has been great at finding players to upgrade the squad but getting another Egan wouldn’t be easy And there’s no saying that CW has anyone lined up or could pluck one out of L1 or the Championship or abroad.
there is a model however. Leicester seem to keep having players poached e.g. Maguire but not only do they get max money but then they replace him with a player at least as good if not better (according to my mate who is a Leicester fan). The current Leicester team seems to be even better than the one that one the title. They have constantly up graded their squad in many cases selling at high prices and replacing with a cheaper but better player. May be we can do The same.
Good point. think we have the potential under this management to emulate Leicester, maybe not as far as winning the title but to become consistent performers at or around the highest level.

Just hope he doesn't have a release clause in his contract. That would perhaps explain the low bid.

£20m would be a realistic offer from Everton imo

Not £9m, nor £50m

If Everton have £50m to blow on a CB, I think they would be looking at Barca and Real Madrid players for that sort of money.

We all know Egan is worth what someone will pay and there’s no way Everton will spend that on Egan again imo

Hopefully, Egan is loving it that much at the Lane that the new contract we are talking to him about is just a formality

Very true.

I think that also goes for quite a few of our players, they work well in our system but outside that are largely an unknown quantity, (and lets face it probably Championship level in a lot of cases).....big gamble for someone to splash £10m/£15m/£20m on.

Been saying this all season. As legendary as Bash, Egan and JOC have been - take them out of this system and they're no where near as effective!

After whats happened to Maguire this season, I'd be surprised if a 'big' club is prepared to get their pants pulled down again...

Totaly agree all three of the back 3 and the wing backs could be upgraded for serious money ( and will be over time ) ,so if any bids come in worth considering and the players want to leave thennlet them go

Think the WBs would be harder to replace but unless someone is playing a back 3 with a similar system, then you'd be taking a massive gamble.

Which is why the rumour is utter shite. Why anyone who plays with a flat back 4 would spend big money on a CB who has spent 2 years playing in a back 3 and is unproven in a back 4 at this level makes it all utter bollocks!

Old news re-hashed......there was interest 2 or 3 months ago but can't see Ancelloti wanting to sign Egan, he would prefer to splash it on a "name"...
Egan is a “name” these days

Players value rises when they do well in the prem . Egan has some of the best defensive stats in the prem for a full half season . So his stock will be more than say Villas Mings whose half season in the prem stats are nowhere near as good and yet he was valued at 28 million. I'd say Egans current value is 35m and upwards

Nobody is paying £50m for a player who's played less than 20 Prem games who isn't 1)English 2)a striker 3)under 23 4)double-barrel surnamed

I can't think of a number where both clubs would walk away happy so it's unlikely to happen unless the player forces it

Disagree. Egan is not worth what someone will pay.

Egans to value to us as a club who currently hold his playing registration, is what he is valued by us. No one else. If he did a job for us which goes a long way to keeping us up and establishing us as a PL club, then he is worth much more to us than a piffling £20m which Everton may or may not offer. That's irrelevant.

If Everton or anyone else for that matter pay over OUR valuation of the player, then and only then will he be sold.

If we went to Leicester and asked about Vardy and told em we would offer em £1m, and no other club had been in contact, do you think they would think... Well he's worth what someone else will pay, better accept it then...?

It was interesting what wilder said in the championship yes we would have to sell in the Premier league we're under no pressure so it's come back with serious money or see ya later.

The price would be £20 mill tops...plus add ons ...if they offer him silly wages he will go ..simple as ....prefer to do it in summer though ..as time to get a replacement...

When was the last team we sold a proper first team player because we didn't really have a choice? Seems like a long time since we were behaving like a selling club.

Brooks is an obvious shout, though he wasn't exactly starting every game and the money felt big. After that ? I remember being gutted when Brighton had our pants down for Murphy, but that is fucking ages ago now.

Am I just having a mental block?

Anyway, in all probability we've already got a second season of PL dosh locked up, so I doubt we'll be flogging anyone key anytime soon.
Between Murphy leaving and the Wilder era we didn't have any saleable assets. Nobody was going to bid big money for Scougall or Baxter or any of the other wasters we pissed wages up the wall on in the Clough/Adkins eras.

20m is a joke price, 20m plus sigurdson

Just a point..... but if £20m and £30m are joke prices for Egan then we can absolutely forget having any chance of signing Holgate.

I have to say if Maguire worth 80m then add another 20 for Egan and start bidding at 100m.

We are not fashionable our players a'rnt plus hes not even a regular in the Ireland team yet we would accept 30.million knowing us then hey presto 6 month. Later hes worth double

He's worth more than £20m for us in Jan. There's no price that suits both parties. Unless he asks to go its not happening
