Is the beating stick made by Adidas? I'm just going to get a stick and paint 'Blades' on it.
Brayford doesn't look happy, he'd rather be at Burton. But Clough doesn't appear willing to meet his current wages. There's a deal to be done there. But we have to make Brayford believe we're not prepared to give him a big payoff, that we'd rather keep him than pay him up. So that his options are to mutually agree to terminate his contract or to play in our u23s, or not at all. Then, we may get away with a small pay-off, say 20%.
For the sake of argument, let's say he's on £12,000 a week and Jnr is prepared to pay him £8,000. He's down by £4,000 a week. So, if he took £4,000 x weeks remaining as a pay off, he'd lose nothing. That would be our upper negotiating limit. Our aim is to get him to leave for nothing. The reality is we meet some way between the two. Of course, we won't know exactly what Jnr will be offering so we have to make an assumption.
But if we start with 'we'll not pay you off' and end up paying him £1,000 x weeks remaining, we've got a good deal.
