I have a sneaky suspicision that this guy will play a part in our season. Freeman hasn't shown any of his form from last season so far and looked off the pace last night. Brayford could be knocking for his door as well as the CB doors soon enough.

As a minimum he should not be allowed to leave until we know the extent of stearmans injury.

With baldock not fit either he's our only cover at right back.

Don't see how we can send him out unless we bring someone else in

Wright will come into the side for Stearman whilst he is out for 4-6 weeks with a pulled Hammy.
Can see Brayford taking the Wright slot on the bench and then coming on as RH CB whilst Bash gets pushed to RWB when Freeman has been forearm smashed all over the side of the pitch.

If we could get the Brayford back that bombed up and down the flank a few seasons ago then he would be starting ahead of Freeman every day for me...Freeman's contribution was great last season but defensively he was suspect, going forward in the 3 games so far this season I cannot recall him trying to beat a man on a single occasion and when the ball gets to him it invariably goes backwards....that side looks our weakest point at the moment and I would include Bash in that criticism as well...

Providing CW doesn't have to get rid of Brayford to fund other moves I would definitely like to see him involved. CW said after the game last night we need another Centre Back........we've already got one! Could it be that our best combination would be Brayford at RCB and Baldock at RWB?

The crossing from Brayford alone brings something to the team. He can deliver a decent cross from a fairly deep position out on the right. That in itself is an asset even he if he can't bomb forward as much as he used to.

I just think we are waiting on Brayford to go to help us fund our targets.

Which is ridiculous with the money we have already brought in with the sell on clauses.

A few defeats and the brayford lovers come flying out. I thought half of you lived in the in wilder we trust mantra. If the beards head was screwed on then he would play. Let's not talk wages as he's certainly cheaper and a better option than lenihan. Look deeper

Nothing to do with the defeats, this debate has been going on for some time.
The "in Wilder we trust" is getting tiresome now, it's just being used to shut down debate and comment. If all we're supposed to do is accept that every appointment, sale, selection, substitution, tactic and strategy is beyond comment because Wilder did it, then we can close the forum down now. We can trust Wilder whilst still daring to have an opinion.

Freeman was never going to look as good in this league, like many more aren't yet. We are not bombing on, like we would in League One, and not just Freeman have yet to find their feet yet but I think they'll improve, both individually and as a team. We've played two of the better teams and against Barnsley I wouldn't be surprised to see the old Freeman. It's an ideal game for us this weekend in front of 28,000 or so fans too.

BRING - IT - ON !!!

Totally agree and a mantra I argued about last season but was shot down. In this instance I would love to know what brayford has done to deserve a recall? Does he want to play for us? I certainly haven't heard the right noises coming from him

I'm guessing that Brayford is our highest earner after promotion. I assume he took a huge cut in wages on the proviso he'd get a huge increase after promotion.

Still cheaper to play him than to pay for a replacement. He's in the last year so you would have thought he's playing for his next contact, wherever that may be..

For me it's simply that we have a player we know has the quality and a team that could do with it (at the moment). It's a bit of a no-brainer. I know Wilder is big on team morale, but I find it hard to believe that his attitude is that bad that he has to stay away - if it's bad at all. He's been pictured training with the squad and has played in the "2nd" eleven, so I'm guessing his attitude is fine, maybe Wilder just hasn't found the opportunity to bring him in yet, maybe that's now.

Haha since when does selling our players fund other moves.

I think the biggest disappointment for me this year is the lack of investment into our squad. Sadly, selling brayford will not bring back a player of his quality.
Since last season, when selling DCL and Adams "funded other moves" for a largely new, and vastly improved, squad. Or do you somehow not believe that this happened?

Getting rid of brayford at the moment is defensive madness. We are short of a centre back for the next 4-6 weeks. Plus if Burton are dying on their feet defensively why would we want to help them until the very last minute when it suits us at the end of the window, or send him on loan when stearman is back and we have another centre back on board.

Why would we want to help them out at all? I'm getting flashbacks of Unsworth and Wigan....

Clearly bullshit B58. It says he's a consummate professional when we all know he's an arrogant mardy arse upsetting the squad, undermining the club and writing poems about Wilder on the dressing room toilet walls.

But good luck to the lad.

If any of what you say is true then it would seem Brayford is trying to force United's hand to send him back to Burton on the cheap. If that is the case, we have to make a stand no matter what the cost. Giving in would send out the wrong message to any other player who want to try it on in the future. Southend are showing us how it should be done.
