Joe Rothwell

A lot of reports saying that Nottingham Forest are close on this one.

John Percy of the Telegraph is usually spot on.

Need to get him for the large number of Blades that just can't spell. Look forward to seeing Roswell in the lineup🛸

He’s better than Yates for Forest so he’d be an upgrade there

If you believe the media, Rothwell to Scabs is as good as done. As is Goldson.

No surprise

We should have signed him ages ago, when it would've been easy

Wallace probably go to scabland too

Then our 3 fantasy frees are all accounted for, nice and early

Goldson staying at Rangers.

Would make sense to the Scabs. After all they did scab half a team! Got 5 loan players to replace before they can even get near the team that finished 4th.

They should limit loans. It's ridiculous you can get promoted when half the team isn't even yours.

A couple would be better in the matchday XI, max three. PL is only 2 excluding overseas loans.

It would also reduce the options of clubs stockpiling players.

Think Fulham had summit like 7 loan players last time they was up ridiculous

Clubs should not be allowed to stockpile players imho. Just as there’s a limit to the number of players a club can borrow and play in the team; there should also be a limit on the number of players a club can loan out.

Works really well for Chelsea financially. They make so much money per season on players that have literally never kicked a ball for them. Crazy. We can't negotiate on players for our starting 11 never mind stocking those that we're sending out on loan immediately

he's played over 35 games in all the last 5 season....
Just looked on Wiki and he's played over 30 games every one of his season's with Blackburn, nearer 40 than 30 too. Am I missing something Robbie?

If every team had a 25 man squad limit plus 5 allowed to be loaned out, it would force players down the leagues to play, and improve the standard and enjoyment for everyone.

But what’s the point in that? Football isn’t about the enjoyment for fans of league one and two clubs, or god forbid non league... it’s about making billionaires more money and highly likely a big money laundering scheme.

Joining Bournemouth. So that's another gettable player gone on the toss of a coin more or less.

Doesn't half have a David Unsworth feel about it now that Forest game.

He sent us down then not long after was binned by Wigan.

Samba's telescopic legs kept out N'Diaye and he's also out of the picture.

Wish he'd just fucked them off in the play offs instead!

Obtainable certainly, but realistically it would have been one hell of a result if we’d got him over Bournemouth, Fulham or Forest.

But not unrealistic either. Will Vaulks being a case in point.
Got to disagree, basically dead in the waters once Premier League clubs are circling. Newly promoted or not.

We struggled to compete on wages when we were in the Premier League - let alone the league below.

Purely guesswork but chance to ply trade in the Premier League for probably triple pay we could offer. Pie in the sky thinking to suggest otherwise.

Get the point on Vaulks, but clearly isn’t apples with apples.

Free transfers can cost millions these days. which is both oxymoronic and counter intuitive. But, honestly, there’s not much that’s free about a free transfer any more.

Oh yeah, there‘s no transfer fee involved obvs; but what that means is the player and his agent ask for shed loads of dosh upfront…more than we’re prepared to pay, by the looks of it … and if we don’t want to pay it, there’s always another club who will. So free transfers can work out almost as much as a multi-million pound transfer these days.

And that’s before you even start thinking about wages

So as a transfer strategy, trying to sign ‘free transfers’ is a bit cheapskate and not very well thought out; being based on a mixture of old fashioned, wishful thinking and crossing your fingers there’s no one else interested.
