Joe Mason

People like making player suggestions. Maybe we could have yet another section specifically for that but given that 95% of rumours are unsubstantiated bullshit, it makes sense to put player suggestions in the same section. Providing people prefix it with 'player suggestion' I don't really see what the problem is.

I know... I know... it's not really a problem... Most threads, rumour or suggestion end up with the same arguments anyway...

I guess it's because you can pinpoint who's making the suggestion, and see them then go and have a meltdown when their suggestion of a player to a load of people not involved with the club does not influence the club to go buy that player.

Joe Mason is a better striker than every striker we have apart from Billy Sharp. I have no idea why that is so hard to fathom, then again I doubt the club have done anything wrong in your eyes since it was formed.

The joke is....IN YOUR OPINION!!

What's so hard for you to fathom?
In case you are still missing the point I will embellish. You are a nobody....someone who has no expertise, no experience and no knowledge of pro football.
Just because YOU say he's better does NOT make it true.
Furthermore, you have ZERO idea what plans the manager has going forwards, who else he has lined up, how this Mason will fit in etc etc...:in other words you are clueless.

Instead of getting all pissy because Burton Fucking Albion have signed some striker our manager has expressed no interest in, how about waiting to see how things develop before chucking your toys out the cot.
THEN we can all debate if there is something to complain about.

The times people wax lyrical about this player or that...and they turn out to do fuck all.

Savage's worth will increase when there is a demand for unmitigated Gobshites.

As will mine I hope.
You're in the wrong place. You need to be in the South East, where they expect all northerners to be like a cross between Liam Gallagher and Boycott and tolerate pretty much anything if you can make money for your company. My work colleagues that didn't like me considered me to be an idiot savant and my mates tend to describe me as 'you northern Asperger's cunt'.

Joe Mason is a better player than the other strikers we have. He's been there and done it in the Championship and last season Wolves paid £3million for him.

If you don't like the idea that people talk about other players would improve our squad here's a fantastic idea - don't open the thread.

Cheers.

Where is that fucking meltdown you speak of? I'm flabbergasted.

He's so great, that at 26 yrs old and approaching his peak he's ended up on loan at Burton?
And the fact Wolves paid £3m for him means sod all...hes still at Burton.
Add to that he's hardly been a scoring master in any season he's played...never hitting double figures in a league season, and with an average of 1 in 4....48 in 213 league appearances.....also suggests he's hardly "been there and done that"

If this is really the best you can do I suggest you give it up. Because it's clear to me that Wilder has no interest and has better players than that on his radar. Players that will do a specific job and fit how he wants to play.

Would Burton 'fucking' Albion take any of our strikers apart from Billy Sharp?
You don't even need to answer it. You know the answer.

Glad you mention double figures, at least he's never hit them in the championship. Our current crop didn't even hit them in League One last year.
PS the reason for that is he often plays wide or as a second striker.

I reckon they might take Brooks for one Seeing as it is ok to include players who often play wide or as a second striker, then Brooks fits the bill there.
And of course they would indeed take Sharp.

Hanson is on his way....and the manager wants more firepower over daft Leon. Thankfully he also wants better than Joe Mason, who would add little to this team unless you are advocating the replacing of Sharp?

And you see that really is the point here. Mason is NOT what we are after. Wilder wants pace and power as well as a goal threat. Someone to make the space for Sharp....his goal scorer.

Er... I can't see where I've said you've had a meltdown.

But as I haven't. I will now. Read this thread back to yourself. You're having a bit of a meltdown.
There is no meltdownish doomsday text in this thread. From anyone actually.

Bear in mind Clough is their manager and he signed Higdon. On that basis I wouldn't be surprised if they signed Super Hans and Evans.

He doesn't seem to sign idiots for Burton. His recruitment there seems very resourceful unlike here.

His only 'wow' signings have been Luke Varney and Marvin Sordell. Ones about 40 and the other is League One at absolute best.

Joking apart, you're right. Which raises the question why he found it so difficult to recruit when he was with us.

Their squad isn't as bad as people think.
They have Mason, Luke Murphy, Matty Palmer, Irvine, McFadzean, Ben Turner and Scannell who'd all definitely improve our squad. They're not as doomed as Bolton and Barnsley for me.

Was that when we had the Transfer Committee? I know nowt about exactly what they did or how that was made up. But I know my own experience of "committees" was that they usually couldn't even decide on the best biscuits for meetings without it turning into a pissing contest.

Always biscuits with you.

I've also had experience of 'decision by committee' and attended meetings for more than six months where each time they discussed brick types and costs and each time wanted cheap bricks that looked like expensive bricks. It was essentially a battle of stamina.

To be fair yes, I think they used them to lure me into meetings, much like Wile E Coyote would lure Roadrunner with the "free birdseed". Most of the meetings left me feeling that a fucking huge boulder landing on me would have been preferable to listening to someone whose favourite word seemed to be "holistic" for two hours at a time.

BISCUITS! BISCUITS!

Biscuits are sometimes necessary to facilitate a proactive holistic approach and encourage participants to take ownership of their solutions. I'd like to task you with the opportunity of obtaining 360 feedback on biscuit related matters viz the relative merits of traditional granny biscuits such as custard creams contrasted with modern chocolate coated produce. Please spreadsheet it and prepare a brief business case, on PowerPoint, in time for our next management meeting.

I will take your feedback on board and run with it, whilst avoiding the low hanging fruit and trying to think outside of the box. I've taken on board your points regarding Custard Creams vs Chocolate Covered "modern" biscuits, but going forward I think there is a strong case to be made for Hob Nobs.

All well & good but the business case would need to include a helicopter view or it would need to be hoisted up the flag pole to see who saluted it in line with proper meeting and business practice

I don't think you've ever seen Joe Mason play football.

Twice. Nowt special. Just as his record suggests. In fact he's almost at the point of journeyman seeing as he's only 26.

For the record, I don't believe Wilder has his first choice forward line yet. I don't believe he ever intended having Hanson play much after last season, and I also don't think he's been over impressed with Lavery.
I see Wilders introns for Evans as a squad player, along with Clarke.

I expect to see one main striker this season, and another next season to replace Sharp. Clarke, Evans and Lavery to be back up and pick up the scraps to cover injuries and tactical changes.

I'm not going to add to this every time he scores, this thread can now be consigned to history.

But let's draw the line at this, he's just scored against Wednesday. That's enough for me.
