JOC and Basham

Based on the couple of rusty pre-season games we've seen him in? Not sure what formation he's been playing in but has looked like he's adjusting to being the middle man in a back three and getting to know his teammates positionally. The other two are already quite comfortable. Think we need that older more experienced head in the middle of them
Not saying he's a bad player, he's decent enough in the championship but he's prone to dropping a bollock. I don't see that in the other two.

No player is undroppable dont you get that
We have Jake Wright, JOC and Stearman as well as Basham with another to come in so that will be 5 players for 3 places in the team
As it stands Chris Basham is undroppable. Thank you for your time.

You obviously have an agenda against him then. He was probably our most consistent performer in the second half of last season.

Consistent yes but immense no, he did play well at the back end of the season
Hes a decent player at L1 level at CB, hes not good enough in CM he will most probably start the season
but I think he may well struggle in the Championship. Wilder has made no secret that he wants to bring in another CB so I think it will be Basham that makes way for the new CB

Do you think any of our players were immense last season then? Or did they all just play consistently "well" to get 100 points?

Obviously "immense" is a subjective word and I don't mean it literally for every game.

Don't shoot the messenger .

I'm just summing up what this treads starter felt regarding Basham last season . :)
Boring though init?
I've already set the record straight in the first post, paragraph 1

Bash is steady away sometimes drops one or is sloppy in possession but never gives it up and 9/10 atones for his mistakes, One thing you notice when you watch him play is he never shuts up always encourages and is the first to join in on any celebration I would imagine his presence in the dressing room is worth equally as much as that on the pitch, As for JOC he's 23 still learning and will 100% play premier league football for someone hopefully us!!

Theres nothing at all boring about seeing a poster who absolutely slaughtered one of our players ( and any poster who didnt share their character/player assassination ) squirming when hes subsequently proved as wrong as is humanly possible . I like it :)

Not at the club. Hence why he's as undroppable as JOC right now

One day you'll listen and learn, young fella, to and from people who have seen a bit more football than you. Perhaps experience will deliver circumspection. I hope so.

Luckily Tufty will be picking the team and not the young full of himself Danny Boy, who has infinitely more to learn than he presently understands.

No, it really is boring. I'm not squirming am I considering I created the thread? Not like I needed to bring Basham into it at all

Have you been drinking again?

I don't give a toss how much football you've seen, it doesn't mean you understand it better.

Mickey Adams and Kevin Blackwell have seen a lot more football than you - do they understand it better?

Bashambauer, if we're being picky

You probably never saw Beckenbauer play otherwise you would not connect Basham with one of the worlds all time greats decent L1 CB but Ive seen a lot of better players wear the Red and White stripes

For me Basham is excellent when the ball is in front of him, he reads the play well and makes numerous interceptions. However, when ball is played in to the box from wide areas he frequently loses his man. The same also applies to Freeman.

Sarcasm and a joke. Do lighten up.

Good OP Danny and I, like you wasn't a big Basham fan in terms of footballing ability (he's always been a top bloke and honest about himself) but he's one of those players who has grown on me game by game and is indeed, at this moment in time, undroppable.

As for JOC, nothing really needs to be said, he's a very good defender as well as being a very good footballer, he's destined for the top.

Its not boring. I fuck up with an opinion I expect to get slaughtered. It hurts but its a forum.

Bashams Sunday league standard and any fucking idiot that's happy to see him in our side in any position would be happy to see us in the Meadowhall League .
Is this the same bloke who Wilder has as first name on his team sheet, a player that's played at Premier and championship level, that imho should have got the player of the year. Thank God CW doesn't read some of the shite that's put on this forum or he'd laugh himself to sleep every neet.

Our best player after Christmas. Absolutely immense in the Scunny and Bolton home games - when we really needed people to stand up and be counted. I think the right of a back three is his best position.

You really are embarrassing yourself. I've tried to help you, but you seem unwilling to accept advice.

Firstly CHL is a purveyor of sarcasm and irony. He likes a wind-up.

Secondly, Basham was excellent last season, but nowhere near player of the year. I can think of five at least in front of him.

Thirdly, he isn't first name on the team sheet. In fact, if Tufty gets Linehan from Blackburn, Bash will be the one to miss out. He'll then have to fight for a place in midfield; where his appearances will be limited.

You do realise you just say things with absolutely no context don't you?

...and we have a new forum 'character' trying to make a name for himself. Unfortunately he's not very good at it.
