JLT - a poll out of curiosity...

Discussion in the Rob Holding thread as to whether Jack is good enough to be part of a central duo at this level.

The claim from one poster is that 80% of our fanbase doesn't think he is. The counter claim from another is that the 80% should open their eyes.

Let's put it to a poll.

He is good enough for Championship team that are up for mid-table or chance at the Play-offs. He's not what you want if you're looking to get promoted in an automatic place.

At the moment he should definitely start alongside Anel because we have no one better.

I am happy to have him as cover for a better pair (like we had before HS was injured) as long as this "cover" period is only a few games.
Seen on other occasions as the number of games increases the more mistakes creep in.

Not sure any of the categories covers this so I'm out.

He is a good solid player to have around the club to come in as a back up, or to provide a definitely option from the bench as he won’t ever let us down, and professional enough to come and do a job when required but he isn’t a first team starter for me

Robinson is at best a mid-level Championship player. Too prone to mistakes which lead to goals being conceded, and potentially matches being lost.

Had a few comments on here say that his pass in the build up to Brewster's goal at Millwall is demonstration of his qualities. To which I would point out that he needed to have no opponent within 20 yards of him to pull that pass off. Anyone unsure should give back and watch those highlights.

As the role of a centre back in the modern game has evolved, he has been found out as incapable of keeping up. He panics under pressure more than any player I've ever seen. Which typically results in him desperately sending the ball back to Cooper, as he's left himself nowhere else to go. Other occasions, he ends up losing possession with a poor pass, or worst case scenario, makes a critical mistake, such as he did away to Sunderland.

I'm sure Robinson is a decent lad, but continuing to play him, is effectively accepting the significant chance, that he makes a match-altering error in any particular game. Which feels pretty negligent to me.

Love his grit and attitude. Can't fault the work ethic. But I think he's a fairly limited footballer prone to the odd clanger.

He played alot when we made playoffs and lost v forest , he played alot when we were automatically promoted the following year , he's played alot this year and we are currently in an automatic spot .... A great squad member

And the fact that Osborn was arguably the best player on the park on Saturday says enough.....

He needs upgrading on. He’s limited but throws in the occasional hard tackle which everyone spaffs over. Dalek when in position, turning circle of the titanic. However. If Holding is the other option. I’d stick to what we know.

Was about to say something similar! If he went to Derby, Preston, Mittwoch - you could see him playing another 3 or 4 years at this level.

I don't buy the rhetoric that he's good for a backup. He needs a run of games. It's when he's coming in for the odd game here or there that he starts dropping bollocks...

However, as a team looking to finish top 2, he's way short of the mark. Dont see him anywhere near Burnley or Leeds starting XI...

Which explains why nobody is coming in for him with 6 months left on his contract.

Nobody below us can get him, nobody around us want him, and nobody above us would even think about it.

He's done well for us in the past, albeit with some bad errors. Should we play him now? Probably. Should we look to improve on him? Of course, otherwise what's the point?

We should always look to improve our squad, regardless of who it is we seek to replace.

Which says a lot about the depth the of our squad....JLT should never be anything more than back-up.
