WE NEED A new N05 with pace and good in the air ,,arrr,,,,,,,for gods sake sign him make a offer because a centre half is a priority no one will replace class soutts but jimmy is a good option ,arrrr in pain so i say dont hang about we need a n05 to help class robbo and class anel there struggling without help jeeezzzzzz do it please i beg you all ,,get it done ..AARRRRRRRRRR ,we need to win,,arrr...............ranto over,,aaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Has anyone considered that we could sign Dunne and Darling and send Gilchrist back?

Two more seasoned players on perms instead of one on loan whose form is a little up and down at the moment.

Change to a 3 at the back with Dunne playinh RCB? Seriki and Burrows WB? Formation change to 3412?

The signings do make it look this way. Would be a massive gamble though (and very harsh on JRS)
I simply do not understand this logic. It makes no sense.

We've played a back 3 once all season. And it was a disaster.

Wilder in pre-season spoke in explicit detail about the change of formation, about the challenges of the switch, about getting used to it, recruiting to suit the play etc. No discussion about playing a back 4 in friendlies just for shits and giggles.

We've been competing at the top of the league all season while playing a back 4.

And yet, there's always been a comment here and there believing that we would revert to the back 3. I don't get why either - we were shite for the last 3ish years of the back 3 days. We were just carried by 1 or 2 individuals with absurd talent while we did it (MGW, Ndiaye, Berge).

I want to see us play as a team. Which is what Wilder is trying to build.

There's purpose behind every signing we've made. BBD - we needed a LW, why not sign the best player we had last season, who is comfortable playing there? Cannon - young forward who can look to compete with Campbell for a starting spot. Choudhury - lacked cover in DM area. Clarke - wanted a more offensive RB than Gilchrist, and Seriki's injury issues mean he isn't always available.

Even if/when we get a CB in, there's no way we play a back 3 when we would only have 4 fit senior centre backs. Anel, Robinson, Gilchrist, plus one more. RND isn't fit so can't be relied upon. Wilder said in his press conference today that they want Baptiste to go out on loan. And we've no one else. Not a prayer of Wilder going back to a 3, when he can't even have cover for all 3.

Agree with you , except to say that I've more confidence in Baptiste than RND so I would not let the former out on loan - even with a new CB , we are still light there.

Let’s get this out there, because for me this is the same scenario as the arrival of Clarke.

Is Dunne a player that’s gonna become a premier league regular?- No
Does he improve the squad and its depth?- Yes

At the moment we have RND in the squad who to be blunt has been woeful. Granted he’s had some shite with injury, but he looks way off it. So it’s either a case of he needs more time to get his game back, or sadly his best is gone and never to return. But in both scenarios he offers nothing positive to a promotion team and so we need to have better options than him.

Now whether Dunne will also be competing for a spot at CB or FB or at least gives options
Clarke maybe a more attacking full back for games where we can exploit his strengths, and Dunne the option where the opponent is trying to exploit Clarke weaknesses defending.
At CB he may play ahead of Robbo on occasion to share the load.

Whatever this signing is it’s an experienced player who increases our options tactically and strategically in terms of game management for players.

I’m in that amount of pain 2 but I did just have a new hip put in 2 days ago. 😩💊

[£2m] bid rejected by QPR apparently
If true it's now up to Dunne to force it through. We don't like it when players do it to us but if we're willing to pay a fair price (and £2m is more than fair for a Championship centre back with 6 months left on his contract) then we should use the market forces to our advantage.

I'm guessing Darling isn't the back up choice to Dunne because id guess Darling would be more expensive than Dunne so it could be a totally different name all together if we don't sign Dunne.

I really liked Liam Kitching from Coventry but he's back in the Coventry team now whereas before Lampard was overlooking him.

Not sure I would like that, tbh. Gilchrist has been out of form of late, but he has lots of potential and is a player who might be available for a permanent deal in the summer. Wouldn't be wise to close that door.

Imagine they’re both likely to cost a similar amount as they’re in the same contract situation.

I doubt we have the right to send Alfie back. And prob best to keep him for backup.
But I'm not sure he's the right fit for us even if we don't go up.
If CW wants his RB to attack like Burrows can on the other side , I have to say I just don't ever see that in Alfie.

thing is like hamer playing wide left gilchrist has had to fill in at right back its not his natural position but clarke and burrows are our 2 full backs for the run in so think gilchrist will just be a.cover player like peck think he needs a couple of.games on the bench to recharge

I'd go to 2.5m upon promotion with 2m up front. Anything more is really stretching it

I'd also be happy to sign both him and Darling. They'd be good foundations for the squad, and we need them in that area. They would also complement each other well, whether in a CB pair or at RB and CB. Given that we splurged 10m on Cannon this might not be completely off the table

£2m is more than reasonable. QPR are mid-table, unlikely to trouble the play-offs.

He walks on a free at the end of the season and they have to service his wage in the meantime..

Move on.

Also if we've got to the bid stage them the player has already indicated his desire for the move via his agent.

Can see this happening still.

Signing them both would be great and finance wise we could probably afford it with the new owners.

But, signing them both could be difficult for another reason, both of them will be well aware that we have 1 first team CB slot available (thanks to Souttars injury) while our other CB (Anel) will almost certainly keep his place in the team which means 1 of them will miss out.

Both of them are first team regulars at their current clubs who are out of contract in the summer, I imagine we're probably promising both of them first team football in a team competing in a four team automatic promotion race, and seeing who we can get over the line first.

If we signed Dunne and started him with Anel, would Darling then come and sign for us, knowing that he doesn't have that guarantee of 1st team football as his promised position has been given to Jimmy Dunne.

£2m for a soon to be out of contract Championship player is nuts. That's a £40k a week wahe covered for 12 months. The insistence on certain criteria being met that severely restricts the player list is costing ££££ that could be spent on better players

I don't follow the logic?
