Of course it has zero validity as far as you can see. You are engaged in an exercise in Nelsonian blindness where any criticism of the club is concerned.

For the reasons others have mentioned in response to you, and I have mentioned in previous threads, the selling the family silver policy has been a disaster. It is one of the reasons for our currently enjoying league one status for a fifth year in a row.
True, but it's probably not the main reason and it's one of the most unavoidable. Bristol City lost their top striker just before the start of the season when they went up. They just spent the money on a replacement.
It's very difficult to keep players when they've had their heads turned and it should be much less difficult to source adequate replacements.

If I was to tweet Jim, and I won't because I'm not on twatter, my advice would be stop trying to reinvent the wheel and shortcutting the process of properly building a club by trying to sign players from divisions above on big wages. Either go full on, blow the opposition out of the water with our spending by signing the best players in this league, or build slowly and patiently.
Don't fall into the trap of thinking because players are being paid championship money they'll perform like championship players, it just doesn't work like that. Pay transfer fees for players on the up, not big wages for players who've already made their fortunes.

I agree with what you say re recruitment. But these player sales must stop. There is more value for us in keeping our best players.

Let's try something new.

Different issue.

The one thing I would say about the Murphy sale is: What's happened to the money? There may be an answer to that, but it's not clear.
The first £20,000 is sat in the Santander current account because we can get 3% on that. The remainder is split across various bonds that have different withdrawal periods on them thus allowing to take out the money when we need it to finance the first team as required.

I took FD to be Finance Director, probably need the money man in there to see if we can afford the Transfer Fee, Wages and Agents Fees

When money was raised, Cloughy used to send FD out the room for Hobnobs, which is why he was told to FO

I think you'll find he is in there to ensure that we stop within FFP more than anything.

OK, after having just caught up on two days worth of threads, please can I say this and say this only once.

I KNOW IT IS THE FIFTH YEAR WE HAVE BEEN IN THIS GOD DAMN BASTARD DIVISION. I DON'T NEED REMINDING EVERY OTHER THREAD. I DON'T NEED TELLING THAT THIS SALE OR THAT SALE OR FAILURE TO DO THIS OR FAILURE TO DO THAT IS REASON WHY IT IS OUR FIFTH YEAR. CAN WE JUST OBJECTIVELY LOOK AT GETTING OUT OF THE BLOODY THING.

Thank you.

How can we look at it objectively when you don't want people to discuss the main reason we aren't getting out?

Player sales won't stop. That's the long and short of it.
I'd prefer that it rained at night and was sunny in the day time but that's not going to happen in England so I buy a coat and an umbrella.
I'd rather we focus on how to deal with situations than pretending we can stop them.

And the issue of player sales has been done to death on here, I've read the counter arguments about Stones and Berahino and they haven't changed my opinion so this is my last word on the subject.
I appreciate you have a different view and everyone's entitled to their opinion so I don't want to appear arsy about it but I've nowt more to add.

Alright Jim, calm down.

Because its done, gone, finished. Maguire is not coming back. Murphy is not coming back. Quinn is not coming back (maybe). Jones, Currie and Sabella are not coming back. Done (as in dun not Matty), finished, Dusted. What do we need and how are we going to finance it? Simples.

Done's finished? FFS, another fucking crock.

Edit; fuck me you edited that quick.

It sort of reminds me of someone......does he go to the games with all the Little Foulkeses maybe??

Thanks.

What I meant by this is there's often a chain involved and it might be reasonable to expect that if Murphy was going there'd be someone lined up, but given that NA still hasn't been able to fully assess the squad spending the money as soon as we got it would be the Boardroom equivalent of ineffectively hoofing it up front.

Thanks again.

Unless you're going to maintain that we shouldn't sell Adams to Real Madrid for £500m then it has zero validity.

Should we sell Player X? Is meaningless.

Should we sell Player X for fee Y? *Begins* to address the practical, real-world situation.

A 500 million bid for Adams is hardly a real world practical situation.

Has Jim posted a video of him telling the players to pull in the same direction yet? Or just the fans get it in the neck and embarrassed on facebook.

No I'm sorry but that's completely the wrong attitude to take.
As nice as it is to bury our heads and the sand and forget the mistakes we've made in the past, the only way we'll be successful is to learn from these mistakes and make sure we don't keep on making them season after season.

So unfortunately that means talking about them.

It's important to note though that learning from mistakes does not equate to simply avoiding the action that caused it.

The action that was deemed to be a mistake in the past, shouldn't be limited to happen again, so long as this time it is done in the correct manner.

You're talking about avoidance, and that's wholly different to learning.

No actually, I'm not.
I was quite clear what I meant.
Don't presume to speak for me.
