Don't bunny rabbits exist? What the hell is in that hutch in my garden?
BATON-WIELDING police officers stormed the crowd at Sheffield's second Steel City Derby of the season when rival fans clashed in the stands.
Police were forced to act when trouble erupted in the Valad stand at Bramall Lane within minutes of Sheffield Wednesday scoring their second goal of the game and going 2-0 up.
Stewards tried to intervene and split up rival fans but called for police back-up when punches continued to fly.
It is believed Wednesday fans unable to get tickets for the away end of the ground sneaked in with United fans and were caught out when their team scored.
One fan was left covered in blood from a huge gash to his head and officers were seen removing fans from the stand to try to stem the violence.
Minutes later trouble erupted on the Kop and again police had to intervene, followed moments later by a minor skirmish on the lower tier of the away end where United fans were.
One United fan, aged 27, said: "It looked like some Wednesday fans had got tickets to sit with the Blades fans, probably because the away ticket allocation was so low.
"They must have been caught out after the second goal went in because that's when it all seemed to kick off.
"The most serious trouble seemed to be in the Valad stand, where the stewards went in first but must have called for back up because the police then raced up to join them with their batons.
"Things calmed down by the end and I didn't see any trouble after the game."
South Yorkshire Police said there were eight arrests for public disorder incidents.
Chief Superintendent Jon House, District Commander for Sheffield, said: "The majority of the 30,000 fans at the game were passionate about the football and enjoyed the game in a peaceful way, however a small number of Wednesday fans had got into the United end and were recognised as such.
"They should not have been there and as such they were at risk and so too were other members of the public so we had to deploy officers to get them out.
"Deploying into large crowds is not something we like to do as it puts officers at risk and members of the public if situations develop and
on this occasion officers were injured.
"Some people may have viewed the police reaction as heavy handedness however this was crowd safety issue and the Wednesday fans were ejected to prevent any further problems."

Which part-timer numpty have they interviewed here then?
Who in their right mind calls any stand by its sponsorship name... and who doesn't know the difference between the South Stand and the Kop?

Watching Sky Sports News earlier and it aparentely happend in the Global Windows Stand![]()

There was trouble on the South Stand... but the mass riot happened on Gangway C of the Kop.
I was replying in reference to the fact they called it the "Global Windows Stand" after you said "Who in their right mind calls any stand by its sponsorship name?"I know there was trouble on both South Stand and Kop last night. Little bit of aggro on John Street (Where I sit) Sposbly a Wednesday fan was in one the Box's I couldnt see much (Being small does have its disadvantages!
) So I cant really comment on that tbh.
By the way late 60's early 70's i've seen bigger fights to get a piss at BDTBL...
Without a doubt. No matter how much they get paid, they are employed to ensure that the ground regulations are upheld and that supporter safety ensues. I know exactly what you are getting at, and I do sympathise with them, but no way should they have stood around watching as I observed.
Got a Barnsley steward in the office and whilst its easy to say so when not involved, he'd have been acting upon the first sniff of it all kicking off, eh Duke?
Without a doubt.
The only thing at Barnsley I saw that i thoight was 'over the top' but not major, was a female steward taking a can of vimto off someone in the crowd. As my friend sang at the steward 'it's just a can full of vimto, can full of vimto...........etc.'![]()
Imagine the can being used as a missile at the players though, the steward would then be accused of not doing her job.
I understand that, but she wouldn't even let the person finish it. Would have been less of a threat empty.
An empty can, can be a more serious threat. Ie split can open and a nice sharp metal object.
I'm not saying your friend would do this, or the majority of people would. But because of a small minority that do idiotic things like that, then they have to do these things.
i was one of the swfc fans sat in the valad stand on tuesday night and it seems that you have not been told the full story. i was not on that stand to cause trouble but infact was on a corporate night out as a guest off sheff utd. it was sheffield utd that allocated us those seats. i was sat with my family amogst other people united fans and even a rangers fan. all i am guilty of is celebrating when my team scored thinking we had been seated with other corporate guests. there is no need for 20-30 united idiots deciding to team up on two men and kick and punch the hell out of them. my mom was also there and was even thrown to the floor by these idiots. so if anyones to blame surely it should be sheff utd for allocating us those seats and the sheff utd fans for thinking its clever to team up in a gang of 20 to attack two blokes who were there for a corporate evening.
Wouldn't 'corporate areas' actually mean 'boxes'?

Our fans are to blame, I think we should own up really.
It was United fans fighting with each other in the Kop, it was United fans throwing bottles and spitting on Wednesday fans in the away end, it was united fans causing the trouble in the south stand.
