Sorry, that was a tad ungrateful.
I do appreciate a a full Blades blog, I just had to trawl a little with me just wanting the Jeff write up this time.
v Birmingham City U21

"A word on Jefferson Cáceres. Mostly tidy in a comfortable win. Not particularly influential. One bad, give the ball away mistake on 13. Not involved for long periods. But, neat and mainly tidy. Jefferson played as one of three overage players - Rhys N-D and Jamie Shackleton."

Only saw these signings yesterday.
Finally looked on BBC teletext deadline day yesterday.
Been scared to see who Wilder had let go - as all summer
This time last year he released 'Finley Potter' England Youth player for some reason but not seen him as afar as I remember - injuries?
NO CHANCE of them playing for a journey manager who has spent all season at the top of the League but endlessly complaining every game about '6 players 22 and under! As if 22 is some sort of child
Worse two players in team are his 'long term targets' and fellow journymen ChoudHURY and OHare.
His fellow long term exVilla target Robinson lasted ONE SEASON and was swapped by a berk for another Burke.
Why I'm not sure. I liked him - needed to work on his finishing but as with Brooks (5 years no improvement his big weakness apart from playing under Wilder) that is NEVER improved here?????
Question marks over what JL does with forwards? Or is it someone else now?
Loved the Berge penalty on Sunday as much as I hated his placed shots from the edge of the box and outside in SUFC Hecky promotion season.
Yes I do wonder why this thread has surfaced but no doubt will hear later.
Serious question. Are you OK?

You didn't know we signed some players 5 weeks ago? I know your a wilder hater but do you genuinely sit in your armchair everyday moaning?

Support the team fuck sake.

Remember T.C. first game at the lane, just a lad but practically ran the show against Spurs,
Magic , .... 👍
I do indeed my late father got me a ticket in the wing stand on John street. Great display and a wonderful experience of a football “type” that unfortunately has long since been forgotten, having to make way for the agents, money, brawn and work rate above skill, oh and prawn sandwiches.

And don't forget Currie's partner in crime Alan Woodward, seen him score direct from a corner more than once .
Boy could he hit that ball...
And C/H Joe Show 5ft 8inch, seen big C/F scratching their heads looking for the ball while he was off down the field with it or passing it back to Hodgy another one of the greats..
You youngens enjoy it while you can, don't waste it all moaning, looking back the bad times only made the good times feel even better .....;)👍

Just about my exact description when Slimane played for the U-21s!

Slimane seems to do well at Norwich though. Starting every game for them.

How likely is it that we see Caceres actually play for the first team this year? Would love to see him, but it feels like there's no place for him right now considering that even Brooks can't get any game time at the moment.

Should have put an 'a' at the front instead of an 'o'. ;)

Saw Cáceres on the pitch at the end of the game on Saturday, training kit on, milling about with the players so he's certainly being integrated into the group.

I'll not be surprised if we see him on the bench at some point this season, but it'd be a shock if her gets meaningful minutes. Maybe a 5 minute cameo, to see a game out and give him a taste isn't beyond the realms of possibility but l doubt we'll see more this season.

Depends on how much Peroni he can put away in a session. He’ll still have a way to go.

Seeing as Brooks and Rak saki are ahead of him and aren't getting many minutes only injuries will see him even get on the bench

I'm really confused.

This will be where we see how rigid or flexible wilder is with his thinking

Openly he’s been supportive of a potential new recruitment model … privately though who knows…,

Not saying random players should jus be given minutes but at some point some will need to get on the pitch in the next few windows

I think you'll find they drag him off the pitch after about 60mins. Probably when they find out he's that he's been invisible again😂

I hope this new recruitment model is the first step towards a Director of Football type role for someone. Especially if we get promoted and the Owners continue to dig deep in the transfer market. There's only so far CWAK's Little Black Books cam get us and the PL will expose their limitations even further.

I'm hoping to ask a "genuine question" to posters who support this new recruitment model thingy.

Is the plan to recruit players AND put them into the First Team before they are quite ready? Potentially sacrificing points & league position for the prize of having a new recruitment model better player in the longer term? Does the model require them to "learn the ropes" in the First Team? At the expense of players who are - on the day - a better choice. Do we need to create a Pathway to the First Team for any new recruitment model players.

I'm aware these might seem rather naive questions. And I'm aware there's an obvious answer - only play them when they've proved themselves good enough.

But, my questions are genuine. I get the idea of spotting them 'by data". I've got two degrees in Applied Statistics. But I'm not sure how it's supposed to work from there.

How does a player "prove themselves good enough"? The obvious answer is extrapolating from performances in training and age-grade football but ultimately that doesn't provide the empirical data on how they would perform in the first team environment.

Does the model require us to treat them differently, give them some sort of preferential treatment, to an Academy player of the same age?
Again. I'm genuine. I don't know how it's supposed to work.
