Was he slower than Barry Robson? You could set a 100m race up and stick a time-lapse camera on it.

I must have missed that match, lad was shocking.

Peterborough away on a Tuesday night, we had a freekick, Nozzer was waiting to launch it into the opposition box, all players were ready, the ball was launched from around the centre circle and ended up going out for a throwing in the corner, that was absolute basic stuff.

That coupled with Stephen Quinn's ability to beat the first man from a corner were all reasons we were relegated that season (along with injuries to Morgan, Williamson & Henderson and losing Paddy Kenny pre season).
 
Mikele Leigertwood was pretty shit in the PL season. He deserves an honourable mention.

I might be harsh on some people but I always make sure that I give credit where credit is due. he was fantastic in that game, honestly I was in shock for 1st 20 mins because I couldn't believe well he & Collins were playing. I was saying is the real mceveley in a cupboard as this cant be the same guy. ive watched for the last 12mths. only time under adkins we were defensively solid. it was like brick wall. man utd never looked like scoring until Hammond balls it up

I know this is moving away from the worst defender ever point, but I would just like to mention Laurens Ten Heuval who to this day remains the worst player I remember seeing in my 32 years!

I started to believe this report until I saw a comment that said Hammond seems to have settled into league one ! ..... The only thing Hammond settled into was a compost heap filled with the bullshit from Madkins words about the mysterious work he did that none of us saw !!

Ertl and Robson running 100m?! There isn't enough memory in the would to record that. Kim Kardashian may not have been able to break the internet, but anyone who tried to upload footage of that 'race' may just achieve it..

Not one for defending McEvely but if you say he should have been investigated for match fixing on that hand ball shouldn't we agree that Jagielka's has a higher likelihood of match fixing - given the stakes?

McEvely also started well for us at left back, and I remember our fans liked him in the first few months. He was much better at left back than he was in the middle, but Adkins played him frequently in the middle, alongside an ageing and past his best Neill Collins. McEvely and Collo were both past their best then to be honest!

Even £8k a week in total for very very limited talent is too much and a big problem throughout the game, Sunlan were no doubt paying more just for him to be nowhere near them

This won’t be a particularly popular view, but Hammond was actually ‘alright’ up to about this game, and had probably had his best performance up to the point where he ruined it by conceding the penalty late on. That seemed to have lasting effects, and his career with us (and in general) never recovered. If judgment was just down to his performances, he’d probably be likened to a James Harper in how people look back at him. The problem is you also had the wage cost, the expectation that we would be getting a top performer, and the fact he was closely tied to an increasingly unpopular manager. Throw in the contract situation that arose and he can’t be considered in anything other than a negative light. I can plenty of games where Coutts and Hammond were paired together and it was difficult to decide who was poorer. The Southend home game in November that season springs to mind as an example of that.

Managers always say "we're in the entertainment business", but I think having to laugh at your own players' ineptitude is stretching it a bit!

In a way I agree. But Tens Awful was paid £300 p/week and gave everything as a reserve striker. Lee Hendrie earnt £18k p/week doing fuck all.
