Not getting much game time at Palace, type of player I think we need. Sure I read somewhere Palace will pay the wages of the player if the player is playing?

Football fact: 'Jason Puncheon' is what footballers say when a player has a particularly attractive partner, and everyone instantly knows what it means.

Also, the following is one of the greatest chants of all time:

"He went for a shit,
he went for a shit,
Jason Puncheon,
he went for a shit"

So on that basis, we should probably sign him.

I really don't understand why your singing section didn't take off

Being released by Palace. I’d be pretty underwhelmed but trying to think like CW.

He wants youth but I assume there will be a couple of experienced PL heads amongst the incomings

Cant imagine he'd want to stay north after this year, especially as his career runs down.

Also don't think he's a Prem player anymore. Could see him at Luton

Didn't make many appearances for Hudders last season, which maybe tells a story.

But, for all the talk of James, I can't see us spending a huge amount on one or two actual wide midfielders. So it wouldn't surprise me to see us bringing in someone like Puncheon for an option off the bench; someone who wouldn't break the bank and allow us to invest elsewhere.

I agree with you, Puncheon is probably being looked at, won't be asking for silly money on a free, adds in PL experience, fits the bill for CW - unfashionable player who has worked at every level of the FL pyramid. I would be underwhelmed too, but yeah I imagine we will be looking at him as a cheap addition for backup

There were a lot of us that were underwhelmed when a certain player from Ipswich signed on a free last year.
And in the past, Jake Wright's signing on a free was pretty underwhelming at the time too?

Yeah exactly, on paper a lot of the players who have shone for us and smashed it have been 'underwhelming'... another to add to that list is Cranie - pivotal player towards end of the season and no one expected him to pull up trees.

Not saying Puncheon is definitely that guy - but i'm sure if CW sees something in Puncheon he will go for it, and it could end up being a very astute signing with a sprinkling of Wilder magic

I'm all for an oldie that does a job for a season, maybe two. But the number 10 position is in my view the most important player we need to recruit this summer, so much creativity relies on that position. In comparison to the signing of David McGoldrick last summer, we were on a budget then and although Wilder might say otherwise now, the fact that we only signed McGoldrick at the end of the pre-season tells me that he probably wasn't Wilders first choice! It all worked out brilliantly but we also only gave a years contract to Didsy too, probably because of his injury record.

We're in the PL now and we can afford to do better than Jason Puncheon, as good as he was, I'd rather us spend bigger money in this position and give us a higher chance of success. Sergio Canos is right up there I think for Brentford, but there are many good options here.

I would have said that same about Leon Clarke in the Championship

Completely different. Leon was still producing performances and scoring goals at some level. Puncheon has produced nothing in some time. That combined with being the wrong side of thirty. Doesn’t shout PL signing.

Four years ago certainly, he was a very good player. May still be at a lower level.

I’m certain we are not looking at him at all. Probably means “more likely than not”. It’s not even remotely probable.
