January Transfer Window 2025

According to the accountant it's for 2 loans on decent salaries in January.
Loans are only good short term, but are damaging if you get promoted. Rak-Sakyi, Souttar and Gilchrist have already cemented their places in the team and will need replacing if we go up, so we'd start next season in the Premier League with only 8 of our main 11 players.

Does this club ever learn?

We need to unearth more gems like Cooper and Burrows, not waste money on a temporary fix and waste of millions.

For a skint owner with parachute payments high end loans are the way to go. For every Burrows and Cooper there are 5 Grbic and Brewsters.

ST and LW should be the priority.

Could argue that BBD could cover both positions with just 1 loan signing.

Cannon would be ideal for the ST, depends what sort of deal we would be able to work out.

We wouldn't be able to afford the quality of player you mentioned permanently and therefore wouldn't be talking about potential IF we went up. I suspect that souttar would be turned into a permanent signing IF we did go up. I'm sure Gilchrist could be available for another loan. Rak sakyi would probably want to get into the palace team. We'll be rate at the back anyway when walker and Maguire come back 👀👀

know plenty on here dont rate cannon but i think he could be ideal for us and get plenty of goals with us i hope some sort of deal can be done maybe loan with a view to buy

He strikes me as the sort of player that needs good service and can't really create his own chances.

He looked poor against us when we played Stoke because they created nothing for him and he couldn't handle Souttar and Anel on his own.

If we do get him (i can't see it unless we buy him) he could get quite a few goals for him as we have the players who can create chances for him.

They don’t create many chances for Moore, I don’t see how that would be any different for Cannon. They certainly have the ability to do it, but balls would need to come into the box much earlier.

We don't create many chances I admit, but we have the players that are capable of it, especially Burrows who set a header up for Moore against Blackburn.

Even Moore can create chances for other players, Campbell's goal against Blackburn for one.

Absolutely yes we have learned.

Last seasons transfer windows were shambolic on reflection
This seasons transfer window might have been our best ever with what the players have contributed so far.

have to agree we seem ok at getting crosses in from the left with burrows but both rak-saki or brooks on the right just come back on their left foot and often just go backwards for home games i think seriki would be ideal at right back he gets forward more than gilchrist

And this JTW will mean more loans as well?

I wasn't criticising our overall summer transfers as they have been very good, it was more a concern about our over reliance on season long loans, as we'll be 3 players down next season before a ball is kicked.

Instead of improving and strengthening the team with better first team players we'll be searching for replacements for key players who have left. You'd normally want to replace 3-4 first team players every season to progress the quality of the team, instead we'd need to replace 4-7.

Only a takeover and owners willing to spend the cash would allow us to do that. Anything else ends up with the potential for last season's shit show where we went into the season without Berge, Ndiaye and Doyle. This is what I meant by not learning from our mistakes.

But you cannot spend money that you have not got, loans are a more economic short term fix which has enabled us to compete at the top of the table.

.... and there's the crux of the problem. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

2 good signings in january a striker and midfielder and were definetly in contention for top 2 and would be nailed on for a top 6 finish i dont see sunerlan keeping the pace up but leeds and burnley certainly will

Would like to see us use our Man City relationship to get Divin Mubama on loan

I think it will depend on whether the takeover goes through or not.

If it does, I expect us to bring in a CM and CF on loan to compete with Souza and Moore. I don't think we need to actually spend money on a permanent signing, unless someone comes up at a decent price. That's with us not selling.

If it doesn't, I reckon Arblaster and/or Souza go. And we'd bring in two loans and maybe a panic permanent signing for about £2 million.

I only think the squad needs a couple more, injury dependent.

Assuming we’re still on a budget he’d be the singular best signing.

Can play up front, ideal for left wing and in doing so, strengthens the midfield competition with Gus competing there.

Not sure we need much else unless we have injuries.
