Not sure if its already been mentioned, but our 5 January fixtures are against teams occupying the current 2nd to 6th slots! With the transfer window also opening, I fear this month will define our season.

We are not going to be able to afford injuries to key players over Christmas which makes the reliance on our squad even more important. If we still in the top 6 come 5.30 on the 31st Jan...I fancy our chances!!

Thing is, I predict the JTW will end much the same as many others, in eager anticipation and then angry disappointment. It's okay getting loans - what guarantee do they have if we are, or aren't promoted? Surely we need permanent signings now ...to gel and bond the side into a playable unit and to capitalise on victory and our progress up the table?

Cutbush CL , Forget January , just looking at the fixture list starting this month , every month , until the end of the season . Each month is of great defining magnitude . January 15 , the supposed transfer window of opportunity and statement of intent to the rest in league 1 ,will be , a bit of a let down ,and disappointment , the same as the transfer window that has just gone.

Like it or like it not , i think we will be stuck with the existing squad . I do hope i am way off the mark , but a good CF who can put the ball in the net , will set us above the rest . 20,000 blades fans know it , but do Mr McCabe , Mr Prince and Mr Commandant Clough know it . Shit or bust yet again . One or two players on loan , being a little bit different to the much of a muchness we already have , will make a massive difference and contribution to achieving our aim of promotion.

Got to get November and a Heavy December out of the way first like but yeah January looks a bit daunting at this moment in time.

If we make it through any of the three cups were in, we could end up with a few games being rearranged in Jan/ Feb

And if the pitch is anything like it was at the beginning of this year they will be rearranged again

Well I'm hoping for a nice break, somewhere warm...a few weeks perhaps..

I always compare the current team to the one we had in the early 70's, we are definitely broken already.

By the same rationale, our last 12 matches are against positions 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 20, 21, 23, 24. I don't care how the games come, we have to play everyone twice, we are Sheffield United and should go into every single match with an iron clad certainty that we will win it.

"Certainty" sure is a strong word.Just because we get 18k a week to home games gives us no right to win games...our current position tells us that. Agree that we go into games believing we should win, but in my eyes there are 5 or 6 teams in this league that have just as good (if not stronger) 1st 11's as ours. What NC is trying to do is build the strongest squad. I only hope that come February we are still in a position where we can use that strength in depth to our advantage.

Have a Like CCL, if only for your excellent nom de guerre...

Agree TMIB -
Cutbush City Limits Great moniker but you need an Avar

Will this do, if you cut it down to size?

Edit - posted before CBCL used his Sabella avar - the shameless celeb poser :o
