we have to give the lad a chance the comparison with osborn is natural because of the size of the 2 players but i think this lad is definetly an upgrade on osborn even though they play on opposite sides of the pitch just wonder if shackleton could play the rb position in a back 4 with bogle ahead of him at right midfield 🤔

My reference to Ozzy wasn't a negative one, just to clarify, if that's how it was viewed, but it wasn't regarding his size either. Both of them are very hardworking and versatile players that can fill in positions all over which was my comparison. I think Shackleton is a bit of a mix of Ozzy and Besic. Bit of a Yorkshire terrier in that midfield. I checked on the Millwall forum and although it's not a very active forum, the mentions of Shackleton I did see were positive ones and in his time there, he also covered RB and LB. A few were quite down about Millwall not signing him on a free, but apparently Shackleton's agent said no to them.

Looks like he played a fair bit under Marcelo Bielsa so if that manger thought he was ok he will do for me as a squad player
Yeah a manager who isn't particularly demanding from his players.

Shackleton played as a number 6 DM for the Wall. The position Bielsa said was his best. He managed over 30 games that season. Stand out performance a 3-2 Home win over a team called Sheffield United.

I see wilders full review of our injury problems has been completed then

Jamie Shackleton free of Ben Osborn £3.5m. I think know which will turn out to be the better deal.

Imagine his wages are significantly lower as well- with a higher ceiling at 24

Not sure I'd agree with that - I thought Leeds were good payers, whereas we were the second worst in the Prem and Little Ben would have had a 40% paycut this year had he stayed with us. I wouldn't be at all surprised if JS is on more than BO was due.

Where have you seen the 40% payout quoted? Not saying it’s untrue just not seen it

Remember nothing ever quoted on here is factual
I agree!
I seem to remember when we were trying to sign players last year we insisted on a paycut on relegation - Tommy Doyle allegedly turned us down because of this. As for the 40% - again, I just seem to remember reading that somewhere, but it does seem reasonable. 40% cuts across the squad on relegation for all is how I understood it.
But you're right - could be bollocks! :)

Edit: maybe it stemmed from the time we were trying to sign Akpom. Allegedly we offered him £30k p/w with a 40% relegation clause (making his Championship wages £18k p/w). Boro fans were asking why the foook he'd agree to that when he was on £20k+ p/w there at the time!

Not the type of signing that will really define how we do this season but will be an experienced body for us to rely upon when needed.

Of course that won't stop a lot of our fans pissing the bed when it's announced.

Players will feel less lonely if a new face shows up at Shirecliffe. Jamie best be funny because a lot of our players look like someone took a shit on their carpet.
