We are playing with strikers that don't score but apparently contribute, yet for me Moore is constantly giving ball away, doesn't carry a goal threat and yet is lauded on here by many, sorry I don't rate him.

O Hare is absolutely shocking, he's had about half a good game if that and needs dropping.

Brewster, whatever people think of him, goalscoring isn't part of his game.

So with that in mind it was fucking brain dead to not play at least one of JRS or Brooks.

Leeds may be good (not all that according to their fans up here) and I have no problem losing but not even an attempt on goal is shocking
Which is why you need Rak-Sakyi.

We have few genuine scorers. Him, Hamer, possibly Arblaster but less so. Who else is a recognised scorer?

I guess one thing I am bit disappointed in this season is set pieces. With Burrows and Hamer we should have two of the best set piece takers in the division and then we have some absolute beasts to aim at, but everyone just seems to clatter into each other or give away fouls. We did pretty well in our last promotion season with Norwood vaguely floating towards Egan or someone to run onto....can't see how we are not improving this time round.

From the stats:

- Vini again a stand out, with most tackles and interceptions (twice as many as anyone else)! He will be a sad miss on Weds, and frustrating it flowed from a blatant dive by cheating Leeds. But beyond Vini, it was clear we struggled in midfield with the formation with Arb’s stats the weakest for a while (no key passes, no dribbles).

- Defensively Souttar has weaker stats than usual (no tackles, just 2 aerial duels) possibly due to formation and miles travelled.

- Offensively just a car crash. One accurate cross all game (by Brewster). O’Hare with no key passes, no dribbles, no shots; Campbell (in 35 mins) with no key passes, no dribbles, no shots, Hamer with just one key passes, one dribble and one shot.

IMHO the change of formation meant a number of our players were playing to their weaknesses not their strengths, often seeming confused as to where they should be, and overall the team had no apparent pattern of play. One to forget.

I think the question of who replaces Vini is an interesting one, as we don’t have another tall strong defensive midfielder in our squad. Just like we don’t really have a like to like replacement should Moore not be available.

I suspect Peck or Shack will come in but Vini’s are big shoes to fill and I fear Boro will now be a very tricky fixture. Will we play narrow again to compensate! But that impacts on our offensive play.

Enjoy these inputs.
Worthy of their own thread.

I know this is overlysimplistic but with Souttar being a giant and players capable of decent deliveries, we should be able to at least get a decent first head on the ball at corners and free kicks.

Even if its just a knock down or flick on but we don't seem to be even getting these at the moment.

Definitely an area to work on.

God forbid we have a like for like for Moore

You cannot hear John Newsomes analysis of 'what a state Leeds were in after selling so many top players' pre Wednesday match. It was more than a month ago.
You can listen to Leigh Bromby and others pre match on Wednesday
eg 'Leeds have two fullbacks who cannot defend but it is thought it does not matter much as they have the ball all the time'
Bogle and Rondon were both on 4 yellows like some in our team.

'Football is a simple game complicated by fools'. Bill Shankley
We have prize morons based on our corners in the last two seasons

What do the most successful corner takers do (Arsenal) that is in any way COMPLICATED?
(apart from committing fouls and getting away with it - as with Man Citys winner)
They get the ball in the six yard box with pace between the posts and attack with BIG players.

He's out of his depth
He's out of his depth
That's why he bullshits
He's out of his depth.

Apparently our glorious leader 'Ignorance is Strength' All hail Big Belly is blaming coach Alan Knill for the results.

Fair report DB, I think CW got it spot on in his post match interview, "better team, biggest budget, quality recruitment, 40,000 every home game" to be fair they need to be in the prem' as for us, we rely on the "scraps and freebies, until we get investment (big time!) that includes a new ground! then we will always be second best to teams like Leeds and others.
FFS - you certainly can fool some people all the time.
Or is this an insider Gaslighting us?
They've sold £100 million of players this window.
Barely had a squad when they lined up at Hillsborough
Their number one target this close season was Bogle. This money bags club paid only £6 million.
They also wanted O'Hare - God knows why?
Throwing all that money around how did we get him for peanuts?
Some clown wasted the best part of £80 million on club record signings like Freeman, Robinson/Burke. Mousset, McDonkey and Brewster.
ZERO resale value.
What use is all the money in the world with a cretin like that?
TACTICS are the problem, not the players.
Any manager has one job .
Make the MOST of his resources.
He has NOT done that and I cannot believe other than after last years disasters the only reason these are still in position because of the endless takeover shambles.
Is Saudi49er REALLY a bigger imbecile than/fooled by Wilder and blind to what has and is happening?
