Jamie Murphy, time for one last chance?

One of the biggest disappointments of late.

I'd like to see him a forward central midfield role just behind the front two.
He come here as a midfield /striker so let's give it a go.
Can't think of anything else for him he's running out of time here.
Most of this squad must realise this month is crucial for their future at this club before the next window opens
Most of them don't appear to be playing to secure their future at the club really,if this is the best they can do god help us!

Think about it......... Taylor scored goals for fun at Falkirk, Murphy was the main reason Motherwell finished runners up last season to Celtic and Flynn was a 'highly sort after winger' with speed and trickery according to the Scottish press - to back it up Hooper has been a goal scoring phenomenon since his transfer to Norwich NOT
Scotland is no longer the hotbed of football that gave us the likes of Denis Law, Billy Bremner, Archie Gemmill, John Robertson, Eddie Gray, Charlie Nicholas, Alan Hanson, Jimmy Johnstone, Gordon Strachan etc etc
Most Scottish footballers would now struggle in the Evo Stick

He's more likely to be getting a chance tomorrow than Mr Brandy by the sounds of it.

By the by, another forum I'm on had a thread in 2007 asking who people thought would be the stars of the World Cup in 2014. Two (two!) people said Febian Brandy.

The Daily Mail also had a feature in 2007 in which in predicted the England team for 2014. Jose Baxter is in as Centre Forward.

This is exactly why a number of people ignore the fact one looks like he's a Sunday league player fitness wise and the other one can't stay on his feet or control his temper...

Had Chris Porter been one of the "names", he'd get far less abuse than he does, regardless of performances.

Couldn't agree more. Thus far, Baxter has been a poor man's Brian Howard and when Brandy does manage to get on the pitch and does manage to stay on his feet, the most he's offered is a weak shot trickling into the 'keeper's arms time after time.

You mean they haven't the glue to hold it together?:)

Yeah give him a chance. He's here until jan so lets see what he can do under Clough.

How anyone could make an informed opinion of him based on 10 mins or so at the end of the Walsall game is beyond me.

Again, seems like Murphy, McGinn and Baxter have done enough in training to push them closer to first team action, so lets see what they've got in the next few weeks.
Seems like he's doing alright today...

I'm no fan of Murphy at all but I'd be tempted to start him next week, see if he can build on his performance today.

Did well, adds to the encouraging cameo he had at Orient. Said he'd never played left wing-back in his life before, but happy to play wherever.

I thought the wing-back system worked well ultimately - a couple of instances first half where there seemed to be a few gaps at the back (notably where Long was out to save well). Flynn looked well suited to the wing-back role, something I've suggested he might be decent at in the past. I suspect we'll revert back to 4-4-2 next week. Rest of the team were pretty solid I thought - both finishes excellent. Rode our luck with some of the handball claims.

I think every player deserves another chance under a new manager, but his inconsistent performances previously don't fill me with confidence in Flynn mark 2.

is it me ('cos i've only seen him on the telly) but does Murphy look a little more 'hench' these days??

Ill say it again , players perform to the level of confidence thats instilled in them, Weir left players doubting their ability , takes time to undo that . and now we are just starting to see belief , what motivates all good performances , slowly return

Looks like I was correct then?

Listen to your Uncle Harry

JB, JB, someone on here is also saying "I told you so".
How is George by the way?

Is it just me? What's with the 'Murphy has just begun to play well' nonsense? He's been playing well for awhile, and although he's been dropped, his form has been good and he's becoming a better and better player. As with Forest, today he skinned his defender. Isn't this what we've hoped for? Well the lad is delivering, and doing it with great effectiveness UTB

To be fair to Murphy the past few months has been the first time he's been played consistently and been injury free.

Just after he came in Wilson left, then he got injured, then Weir came in with a "new" system/style, then he picked up another nick and now finally he's injury free, under a manager that instill's confidence and playing regularly. Looks like he's hitting the form that he was in Scotland.

Big credit to Clough for giving the likes of Murphy and Flynn confidence and freedom to attack.

Also, I think the new full backs have helped a lot - Flynn did well in his first season when he had an attacking full back behind him in Lowton - Brayford is bringing out the best in Flynn as well as he can play higher up the pitch.

Reading the back posts I for one was totally wrong about both Flynn and Murphy - under Clough they have become different players - both have the confidence to take on an opponent and skin him - both look capable of special things eg Flynns goal v Villa and with Brayford and Harris in the side have transformed United into a really attacking threat down both wings!

It just shows what a huge part confidence plays , not just individually in Murphys case , but how Clough has taken a squad , not just on the floor , confidence wise bur with it buried 6 feet under, hes slowly instilled a good team ethic and spirit thats transformed a shambles of a squad into a solid unit that keeps gathering momentum .

I am one of the first to admit he has been very very poor, but before the JTW opens is it time to give him a few games under Clough? He had a couple of ok (ish) moments when he came on Tuesday and is surely more suitable to a wide attacking role than Coady or Lappin.

If we give him a few starts from now until the end of December and if he doesn't do it for us then unload him back to Scotland in January, if he finally comes good it might be like signing a new player for us.

It's getting towards shit or bust stage so why not?
Looks like Harry's Game is a manager in waiting :-)
