CONFIRMED Jamie Murphy sold to Brighton & Hove Albion

Agree Murphy came with a big reputation as Motherwells best player.

Let's admit it for during his first 6 months he was poor.
Keith Edwards gave him plenty of stick on Radio Sheffield then during the final few months of the season he got better and better and was our main threat. Edwards made a public apology on the radio saying he never rated Murphy but he's been proven wrong and eventually he's shown his talent.

However last season up to Christmas he was again very ordinary.
We all wondered if Murphy was a 3 month wonder then after Xmas he got some form again and looked a real talent making his our best player again.

However Murphy seems very much a confidence player and let's his head drop when things aren't going well.
He's clearly very talented and on his day is a match winner BUT
He it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he could struggle at Brighton and have a similar early career to Harry Maguire at Hull City.

However good luck Jaime, always seemed a decent bloke, nice player without that dirty streak.
He'll no doubt be substantially increasing his wages and Brighton is a nice city to live.
Good luck and I've no doubt he'll get a good reception when he returns to Bramall Lane.

I could see Murphy going sadly. He's probably our best player and most sellable asset. We have been a selling club for a long time. Going to Brighton would be a promotion at least for one season, if not there it will somewhere else probably. I will be amazed if we make it past the next transfer window with him at the lane.

Good luck to Jamie Murphy, while Baxter had natural talent but was lazy a times, Murphy had talent and worked hard. Let's not forget that for at least the second half of last season, he had two men marking him most games, and still scored some crackers.

Jim Phipps has said on Twitter today that the club policy is that all money will go back into the pot for spending on new players, so if that not the case, then Jim lad has really set himself up.

I'll be cheering the team tomorrow, no matter what.

IF we spend the money ( and I have 50 years of ingrained scepticism that tells me we won't ) unless its next week, we are already likely to be 12 points behind the "pace setters" in the league and "deja vu" comes to mind.

I for one am not going to start giving Murphy stick for wanting to better himself, what I am getting fed up with though is that apparently players such as Maguire and Murphy can get hold of a gun so easy in this country and hold it to our boards head while under contract, that pisses me off, weak as fuck they are or do they see a quick buck and have no long term ambition. As you can tell I'm gutted with this one but not half as gutted as my lad is.

Yep it's madness. We declare war then sell off all the missiles on the cheap. We've shown ourselves to be a soft touch that gives in to the first sign of player unrest. Any other players that show promise will be gone and replaced by 3 or 4 average players.

We'll be in this division until we fluke a play-off win, we'll never build a promotion squad with this approach.
