Could potentially play against England, certainly is capable of causing us some problems. And he takes the place of Jordan Rhodes XD McDonald is unlucky to miss out. Do we get any bonuses for them making international appearances?

Wish them well except in this game ;) once a Blade always a Blade and all that!

I thought Fleck might get a call actually but it seems he'll have to impress in the Championship, which we all know he will.

Fleck is more than worthy of a call up. Not sure if he'd play just now though. The midfield is the only area where Scotland have decent options.

I can understand Murphy coming in though. Up front (and defensively) Scotland are screwed.

I'm dreading this game

As a team Scotland would be mid table in the Championship? Is that harsh to say. Scottish football is at a very low point. His call iup is long over due as is Flecks and maybe even Coutts.

About right. Reckon the England team would struggle to get in the top 6 in the Premier League.

I think you are being over generous,I see them more as a Southend or Brizzle Rovers

Re the bonuses, yes...McCabe put it in Murphy's contract that if he ever plays for Scotland we get a tin of Shortbread biscuits.

It's a bit more complicated than that. I don't think there would be a club side like the current Scotland squad - with such a drastic switch in quality from the defence to the midfield to the forwards. It is incredibly unbalanced.

Our midfield is full of consistent Premier League players that would be a gift to any Championship club. Put it this way, if it was announced tomorrow that Wilder was signing Robert Snodgrass, Matty Phillips, James Morrison and Ryan Fraser we'd probably all be quite happy about it.

Our defence on the other hand, would struggle to get a game above League One with the possible exception of our two young left backs Teirney (Celtic) and Robertson (Hull).

It kind of leaves Strachan with no option but to flood the midfield and occasionally get the ball up to a lone striker of middle of the road Championship/Scottish Premier standard. It's pretty frustrating to watch.

England team would be top 4 easily if not challenging for the title.

The first XI all play for top 4 clubs so why wouldn't they be good enough for that level if they played together every week?

I don't know man, they're pretty shit.

It's another call-up for Murphy but it's not likely he'll play. I can't see them playing him in midfield as they've got better options and he's nesh and I can't see him playing up front on his own either, when they've got that big useless lump, Fletcher.

Anyway I hope he gets a game.

Still fondly remember this goal he scored v Gillingham in last minute.

Two other remarkable things about this game...
1. Higdon came on, made a difference and scored.
2. James Wallace played a full 90 mins!
