"Fit" and "in training" can be interpreted in a few ways. "Fit" might not be "match fit" – Brayford was "in training" quite some time before being cleared to start matches. He probably has been involved in training over that period – whether he's been able to train every day, or convince the staff that he's fit enough to start a consistent run of games, is another thing entirely.

I don't think Adkins really believes Wallace is ever going match fit enough to play on regular basis and I don't think he wants to keep him.

I got the impression from Adkins interview last night that he thinks it's a mental thing with Wallace. He (Wallace) doesn't believe he can play 90 minutes and every minor knock becomes a big psychological problem for him. I doubt we'll see him again unless he can get over the fact you may be a little sore after a professional football match.
Maybe a change of scenery will do him good. Hulse looked shot when he came back after his broken leg but moved (Derby?) and recovered his form a bit, although perhaps never quite as good.

When he signed there were mixed reports of him signing a 2 or 3 year deal depending on who you listened to. Rumour is we have an option for another year. Could be that he is fit and ready to play but we are not playing him because if he plays x number of games for us, it triggers another year on his deal which we're not prepared to risk?

This way, we free up his wages and space in the squad to try to sign a new player?

I'd asked the question before on the pinned thread about players contracts about how long Wallace's contract is for. Anyone?

Wallace has played so few games I don't buy the "trigger" theory. Someone on here calculated he'd played about 81 minutes in the calender year 2015.

He signed a 2 year contract in the summer of 2014. I haven't seen or heard anything to say it's been extended, so presumably it expires at the end of this season.

It was:
81 League minutes
plus 228 cup minutes

A little over 3 matches in the calendar year.

I was a bit surprised to see him get 45 minutes in on Saturday. The last time he did more than 45 minutes in a league game for us was 1 November 2014 (he managed 59 minutes). Even more surprised that he has suggested that he's been fit for 4-5 months

His challenge will be string a number of games together. It will be amazing if he does.

Interesting the comment Adkins made last night that Wallace doesn't move much when he is on the pitch. Maybe Nigel has had a falling out with Wallace?

Adkins gets detailed metrics on each players performances in games including how far they have run.
He wants his midfielders to cover some ground off the ball as opposed to standing around waiting for someone to pass the ball to them.

Said it before but I'd love to see Tony Currie's and Glyn Hodges' stats.

Seems to me like the lad is just terrified of picking up injuries, which is understandable given his record, but that Adkins doesn't like that attitude. He wants everybody in the team giving their all, not a box to box midfielder giving him 90% for fear of picking up an injury.

With that many injuries so relatively early in his career, it's bound to affect the lad psychologically. I seem to recall an article about NA and JW having a chat about this and Nige lending him a book of some sort on the matter?

If Wallace can't break down that mental barrier, he's not going to make it as a player. Best he goes somewhere where the expectations are lower (no disrespect to Shrewsbury) and rebuilds his confidence gradually and under less intense pressure, instead of trying to do so in front of a gaffer who sees someone not giving their all and a large crowd who think he's made of glass.

Ok I think we can write off this season , and reaching the play offs or even winning them would be seen as a great achievement and bonus.

The other side to the players who are deemed not good enough , injury prone , not giving 100% for whatever reason can cost a manager his job . . These circumstances are in play at BDTBL . Adkins is not daft in this respect and be well aware of this. Perhaps all parties are playing for / keeping / renewing there contracts and with this mindset of thinking of themselves , they are finally thinking of the club and not just a pay cheque .Just a thought.

It was the Chimp Paradox, something about conquering your inner Chimp.

He probably only looked at the pictures and stuck his finger up his arse. The. Chimp seems to have won.
