I don't for a second believe that the reason he was put of the team is ability related.

We will have wanted to safeguard his fitness so he can be moved on.

We do. But I can't see how Wallace was ever going to provide that, given his injury record. Also, reading between the lines of Adkins' interviews, part of the issue may have been psychological: maybe a fear of injury also limited his performances and appearances.

His last game was at Fleetwood in the JPT. I noticed a couple of times that he just couldn't keep up with runners, like he was completely shattered. He was replaced by Hammond 20 minutes before the end. Solidity and hard work is such a big part of the current tactics, especially from central midfield, and Wallace may need several weeks playing to achieve the fitness required to do that job. So I understand it from that point of view, but it's frustrating, given his talent, and what seems to be an obvious weakness in the current team.

Well I guess he was never going to get minutes here, even when fit (see also Kennedy, Terry) so may as well leave

Exactly. He may be fit but there's no way he's anywhere near match fit. However, seems strange that other players played to get match fitness (Hammond, Woolford) but not Wallace. Maybe he's another jumper draping lolly sucking drain on morale?

:):)Thank fucking Christ for that another wage stealer off the books - applause to Adkins for getting shut and having Shrewsburys pants down - another 15 or more so of the bastards to go

Or maybe Adkins just wants to get him fit?!

Shame, every time I have seen the lad, he looks like he has something extra, but could never manage consecutive games. Would be just our luck that he would go and then get his fitness back and be a really astute signing for someone.

It's clear from interviews that Adkins prefers Cuveliar of the two. Flo seems to have less of a "track record" when it comes to injuries and has been training at a good level for a few months now. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in amongst the first team soon.

I like both Wallace and Cuvelier so it would be good to see one of them in a Blades shirt for a prolonged period, here's hoping.

He's effectively got till the end of the season to showcase why another club should give him a contract, as it's quite obvious we won't be. A shame, but inevitable.
It's not inevitable if he can find his fitness we have a good. Player coming back if it is the play off s
He,s gone to get his career back on track(fingers crossed for him) if he does we have a player who can play at the top level it is a win win situation for the club and Wallace himself.

I stand to be corrected, but even if he plays every game from now till May (which I don't think he will) I think he's played his last game for us. We'll probably be covering some of his wages too I suspect. The minute Adkins stated we needed to reduce the squad and have a group that was smaller in number but able to handle the physical demands of the league, his departure was inevitable I'm afraid.

He is still our player and if he proves his fitness shrewsbury couldn't afford him

Even if he "proves his fitness" over their remaining 21 games (which would be a remarkable achievement in itself given his previous record league appearances for an entire season is 21), all he would prove is that he is possibly able to manage about half a season. Which, as Adkins has quite rightly suggested, isn't the type of player we want at the club.

He has not said Wallace is finished at the lane but it's obvious he has to start many more games than previously. His career is on the line
and unless he does play often for shrews it maybe he is finished as a full time pro,but at 24 he can still do it.It's disappointing that so many blades have written him off"".Come on James prove em all wrong and resume your blades Career. """

Virtually written himself off Finlay, since joining us due to his on-going injury problems. I don't think anyone who knows this lads ability would rejoice in his experiences since he has been at the Lane. I hope he can now have an untroubled few months with Shrewsbury and put himself back into the picture with US. Things for him do sound a bit more promising.

Delighted another wage blocking non scoring midfielder poor signing is off.
6 years to prove he is actually a footballer
The evidence says he can't make it.
Sometimes you have to say thank but no thanks

I get the impression he has to prove to himself that he is over his injury problems, He could play a number of games for Shrewsbury and then be available for The play offs.
For his sake love him to get fit, from our point of view we would have a great player on our hands.

Now let's move scougal on.

Hope against hope that sammon can go back but I doubt it.

Let's get Flo in the 18

Bring a no nonsense centre back in

And we may just have the makings of a squad to push on to the play offs and who knows

Its pretty much good bye, it seems for Adkins that if we can't sell them we'll just loan them out. Its a shame it's not worked out for him as he could easily command our midfield but his injuries has been a massive let down for him.

I got the impression from Adkins interview last night that he thinks it's a mental thing with Wallace. He (Wallace) doesn't believe he can play 90 minutes and every minor knock becomes a big psychological problem for him. I doubt we'll see him again unless he can get over the fact you may be a little sore after a professional football match.

When he signed there were mixed reports of him signing a 2 or 3 year deal depending on who you listened to. Rumour is we have an option for another year. Could be that he is fit and ready to play but we are not playing him because if he plays x number of games for us, it triggers another year on his deal which we're not prepared to risk?

This way, we free up his wages and space in the squad to try to sign a new player?

I think it's a shame as the few times I saw him play last season, he looked a good player and the type we actually need, a robust centre mid that can create, tackle and mark. I'm surprised to learn that he's actually been fit for the last 4 to 5 months and from what I've seen, he looked a better player than Basham or Hammond. Obviously if what Bergen says is true about him not able to keep up with our style of play in the Fleetwood game, then maybe it's for the best.

Good luck to him.

He says he's been fit for 4 or 5 months! Also that he has trained everyday.

Interesting the comment Adkins made last night that Wallace doesn't move much when he is on the pitch. Maybe Nigel has had a falling out with Wallace?

"Fit" and "in training" can be interpreted in a few ways. "Fit" might not be "match fit" – Brayford was "in training" quite some time before being cleared to start matches. He probably has been involved in training over that period – whether he's been able to train every day, or convince the staff that he's fit enough to start a consistent run of games, is another thing entirely.
