19yo Man City CAM. He’s been linked with a Championship loan next season. 18gls and 7 assists in the PL2 this season

Think we have to realise that to get the flair, skill and class required to replace MGW, we need to look at players hungry and destined for bigger things with the naivety of youth. McAtee fits the bill i reckon

He may well turn out to be a world beater but I'd be nervous putting such a strong dependency for Utd's success next season onto someone that wasn't even playing league football this season, even though he has a very good pedigree with Man City

He could be anything from a Phil Foden to a Ben Woodman - it would be a real roll of the dice.

If there's him and another vying for the #10 shirt that would provide some comfort but he could also be a very expensive sub.

I think he’s someone we’d have to roll the dice on. But we definitely would want someone more experienced at CAM any way if we’re looking to loans. we can’t rely on Ndiaye being fit, and we are replacing Berge too so hopefully McAtee could replace Ndiaye as the youth player, Ndiaye will step up to the plate as the MGW replacement, and then we somehow find a 6ft 7 CAM beast to replace Berge

Only if we also get McAfee as back of shirt sponsors
RIP McAfee.

Unless he faked his own suicide to get off the extradition charges he was facing.

Who knows but what a crazy life he lived.

worth a punt as long as we don't rely on him. He'll need to be gradually brought in

We don't need a 6'7" beast to replace Berge. A decent passer and ball carrier standing 5'7" could easily do what Berge does, his height isn't an advantage at all.

Southampton now linked... find it difficult to believe he'd get a game there, but goes to show how highly rated he is if PL clubs are sniffing for a loan deal

This would make a lot of sense as one we might be chasing

How good is he meant to be? Weird Pep never sent Foden or Palmer out of loan.. 🤔
Never seen him, but the odds are he's never going to be as good as Foden.

Heard his name a lot. Would certainly be interesting.

Do wonder if he might clash game time with Doyle though... would City prefer to spread their players out? And will he just go to Burnley 😄

He’s meant to be very good potentially ready for prem football right now. He could be another one that doesn’t quite make it at city but that they sell for 15-20 million next year. I’d snap their hand off for him.

Not sure we will be after a big loan like MGW

I’d have thought khadra and anel were the big signings this summer

Unless someone is leaving ? 👀

Have you not listened to anything Hecky has said for past 6 weeks.

All and any options regarding signings are open, if something comes available that’s too good to turn down, they will action it.

He's said today that the budget has been spent on Anel and the training pitch improvements and we will now only be bringing players in on frees and loans.

yeah I wasn’t under the impression we’d be signing £20 Mill James McAtee from Man City on a permanent.

No, I'm sure you weren't.
Just pointing out the contradictions between what what Heck has said.

Get the impression that after last years performance under Hecky the board have confidence in him and are prepared to give it a good go this year

We wouldn't sign him because he would likely be first name on the sheet ahead of berge/khadra/ndiaye which isn't happening

I don't listen to hecky on transfers cause it isn't down to him the prince could wake up and decide to sell Berge for 16 mill and hed be gone

The Prince has not sold anyone previously without his managers consent and I see no reason why he would in this instance. Heckingbottom realises that he is responsible as a very important member of a team running a business but I very much doubt that Berge or anyone would be sold unless it made sound financial sense.

True but he didn’t rule out a sale which would change things. This lad on loan could be great

we have also been quoted as saying that we were keeping some money in reserve in case someone of real interest became available towards the end of the window. I also understand that we were prepared to pay some money to make Reda signing permanent but could not negotiate a suitable deal.
feel confident that money is available if the right player at the right price is available be it loan or permanent. Next season things may be different but this season think we are giving the ball a kick

It seems like he’s destined for a PL loan tbh, it would make sense to try him out at that level for aplayer City consider to be elite-level prospect, rather than a Championship loan, if he can get the 1st team minutes at somewhere like Leeds or Fulham

I usually think your first loan should be to the second tier. The PL is a very harsh place to learn. If you give the ball away up there it is likely to be very costly.

Down here you can try things, look at Gibbs-White. I don't remember him costing us any goals (could be wrong). In the PL those turnovers would have been punished and it might have hit his confidence.

A top end Championship club is a better playground for those types of players in my opinion.

Absolutely i agree, what i meant was it would make sense to City to try him out at PL (as they rate him that highly that he could be turning out for them next year).

Championship is a much better testing ground though, and where better than at our club? (No bias at all!)
