James Hanson

I get his goalscoring record is poor & I would imagine plenty are judging him purely on that but he has never been a goalscorer, for me it's more his hold up play & just generally being a nuisance for defenders. Once he goes we have nobody that can play the target man role. Maybe i'm just being biased as I've always rated Hanson.
Ah, Hanson the nuisance. That old chestnut.

Maybe he can go dog bothering on Scunthorpe common. Be more of a nuisance then !!

GLTTL :)

I'd say don't hit your head on the way out, but this must be an ongoing issue for Hanson wherever he goes

I'd honestly give him more of a chance - he's hold up play and knock downs for Sharp were decent at times last season, he was threat in both boxes and was well liked around the place.

I don't have a problem with Hanson, he did a good job when he came in and helped with our promotion push.

£200k is decent, how much did we supposedly sign him for?

Billy supposedly cost £5-600k so that puts it in a bit of perspective...maybe..,

Apart from the first couple of games I don't think he even held the ball up that well or was able to bring others in.

If I am quite honest I don't think he was as good as Porter in any role.

Really liked Hanson last season and its a shame he's not been given a chance this season. It reminds me of when Shipperley did so well for us in the Champ and then never got a chance in the Prem, but to be fair that was the right decision and probably its best to let Hanson go too so he can play regularly. He should be praised for what he did for us in my view. Gave his all, set up a few goals at crucial times and also was a general pain in the backside to the opposition. Then Leon came back and showed us how good he can be and now we don't really need both Leon and Hanson. Leon is definitely better than Hanson but I wish Hanson well, wherever he goes. I wouldn't mind Paddy Madden from them to be honest! Similar to Billy, but as a back up to Billy if Billy gets injured or, just to come on for the last 20 minutes of a game Madden would be useful. He'd cost more than £200,000 though!

CW brought in Hanson to do a specific job , unruffle league one defences
to be fair he did it brilliantly for us
go with a hearty farewell and some gratitude for the help getting us out of there

did what he was asked to do cant say more than that CW showing how ruthless he is , picking horses for courses

I agree, seems like a decent lad, works hard for the team but a lot were unsure regarding him in league one last sesson so it really is going to be difficult for him now unless of course injuries and suspensions, I cannot help but feel we can/ should be aiming higher, £200,000? No brainer for me and in his position playing regularly at a division one club and local, probably a no brainer for him as well, its football, move on and good luck to him

If there aren't at least two new strikers coming in to the club in the next, what, 32 hours or so, then we'd be bonkers to sell him and you will probably get your wish.

If I am quite honest I don't think he was as good as Porter in any role.

Seconded !

We've taken them to the cleaners if we get 200k for him.

He's a bricklayer at best.

Ah yes, a chance to reminisce of happy times...

Our Porter, who art not Beavon,
Bellowed be thy name,
Thy goals will come,
Games will be won,
At S2, as it is our Heaven,
Give us this day our Greasy Chip Butty,
And forgive all those slashers,
As we forgive those who still slash against us,
And lead us on to Promotion,
Deliver us from League One,
For the Lane is the Kingdom,
Bring us the glory,
for ever and ever,
Bladesmen.

To be fair I still think he could do a job for us, provided that job is for him to come on for 10 mins and mix it up if we're losing. Personally would rather him do that job than Ched - who I think is a way off being any more than a sub...

I told you before son, leave my archives alone.

There's a time for miracles, so be patient yer grizzled ferret!

I don't think he's good enough for this level, and whilst there's an argument for using him as someone to throw on and lob balls in to for the last 10 minutes if we need a goal, I'm not sure that's his forte. He also seems to automatically change the way we play.

I'm guessing the difficulty is going to come with his wages. Presumably he's on much more than say Scunthorpe would give him.

I believe Tufty believes any first team squad players will need to be able to offer more than 10 minute stints to mix it up.

Just a thought !

I know what you're saying but I genuinely think he'd 'in the right circumstances' help get us a goal...

I'm also not sure I agree with the Wilder wanting more than him being able to mix it up for 10... if he goes I think it's more likely he doesn't think he can even do that job.

...if all we're getting is 200k... If Wilder thought he could do the job I think he'd keep him... think we'd take the hit on £200k for a couple of points otherwise.

Against Derby Billy deserved his goals and a
Ched needs to learn that he needs to work harder, like Billy. I worry that if Billy gets injured the rest of the strikers are not up to the job.

At the moment they aren't, simple as!

Wouldn't be surprised if its us that's pulled the rug on that one. If we don't bring in a forward then we won't let Hanson go
Which is quite a gutting thought. Feel for Wilder if thats how it ends up tonight
