Really disappointed with James behaviour yesterday. He may have been provoked but that doesn't excuse what he did.

You'd imagine that behaviour from a 20 yr old, but not someone who's Nearly 34 and looking for a new contract. Simply inexcusable

Bye james.

I read that he was in London Friday with his agent working on a new deal. I hope he hasn't signed it yet.

Don't agree to be honest the lad was trying to get a reaction from lowton pulling at his shirt neck, BT had simply had enough that referee was shocking if BT's was a sending off the other lad should have gone to, not to mention the disallowed goal.

He should be experienced enough to realise he risked a red by doing what he did. I understand the reasons behind it, but he should have used his brain a bit more in the way he shifted the lad going at Lowton.

There were other players lucky not to go yesterday (mainly Charlton, second yellow cards), but we can't really complain too much on this one other than that a complete lack of competent officiating got to the stage where they had no control over the players.

I hope the linesman to our left wakes up to a call that he's demoted to the conference this morning (unluckily for them), complete failure to spot balls half a yard over the line, foul throws and the shocking decision where he gave a free kick against McDonald who was a good yard away from the defender who chucked himself to the floor - in line and right next to the lino.

Difficult one their player grabbed one of our youngest ,senior players do step in to these incidents.
DW's commented that he probably would have done the same so I don't think this incident will have any bearing on whether or not he is signed.

with him facing a 3 match ban now he needs to get fit and play in some behind closed doors games to get match fit and make up for what he has done

by the sounds of it BT and the charlton player should have gone so would have been 9 v 10 but the ref missed the charlton player do the same to Lowton and just saw BT's reaction

Cannot believe the garbage Highbury is spouting on here
Beattie just reacted to a Charlton player manhandling one of our youngest players
Yes , perhaps over the top but perfectly understandable given the circumstances
The referee lost the plot
We lost the game because whilst being the better side for the majority of the game could not convert that superiority into chances!
Both McDonald and Evans had golden opportunities to equilise but bottled it!
We will play far worse and win - they will play better and lose!
Highbury stop Beattie bashing and face reality - we will be far better between now and May if James Beattie is in our ranks!
Beattie is a blade make no bones about it!

Not beattie bashing for the sake of it. I'd loved it if he had scored yesterday, but face facts, he was an idiot yesterday

Just unfortunate i'd say!
James Beattie will see us to automatic promotion - mark my words
His passion is evident - his skill unquestionable
His fitness is the only uncertainty
Beattie has the class to see us get automatic promotion - he is far better than Porter will ever be!
Despite yesterdays result - I saw enough to be sure that we will go up this year!
As for Wilson, yes he's doing ok - the football is a different class - his tactics - juries out! I'll comment in May!!

There's nothing 'unfortunate' about being sent off if you have put both hands around the opposition players throat.

The fact that the Charlton guy got away scot free shows that it was unfortunate!
Yes, Beattie probably did deserve to go but so did the Charlton player!

To me it was highly inconclusive what the charlton player was actually trying to do, whether he was having a pop at Lowton, or whether he was trying to pull him away from the melee.

So if the Charlton player's intentions were honourable he still should have been sent off? Bizarre logic...
Didn't look that honorable to me! - obviously you're so Anti Beattie that reasoning and logic doesn't count!
Whatever the outcome you're right and Beattie is sh!t
Go and watch Charlton every week if you're so inclined - as a blade of long time standing I believe we are better placed to win promotion with him rather than without him!

Whats honourable about just constantly yanking at another players shirt?
I'm sure there are a many more ways to show honourable intent.

The shame of it was that at the point the ref gave the red to the Chalton player he was just a few yards away and it was instant. At that point why did any of our players get involved? even the player challenged did not react at first untill he saw our other players coming. the indisciplne of the fist reaction of our nearest players lead to Beatie getting involved in something he should not.

After watching it again and again, i'm convinced that the charlton player was trying to drag Lowton away from the melee

Thought the Charlton lad went to intervene Maguire's side first, saw the size of him and went round the other to have a go at Lowton. Also think, once fit, Beattie will bring a lot to our promotion challenge both on and off the field.

Love Beattie,class apart fully fit,but when,FFS.

seeing the picture then Beattie was stupid. Deserved to go. I was out last night with a pig fan who said that Charlton did exactly the same to them. Constant fouling and the ref letting them get away with it

Were it a Charlton player that had a shred of credibility, I'd agree with you. The player concerned though was Yann Kermorgant, who displayed probably one of the worst instances of feigned injury I've seen in a United game during the first half. So the idea that he was trying to do Lowton a favour doesn't seem at all likely to me.

Beattie was just sticking up for a younger player. Had this been a Charlton player I highly doubt he'd have been sent off.
As for Beattie like others have said I would rather have beattie. He brings a lot to the side both off and on the pitch, not to mention he gets the crowd going which can only be good for the morale of the team.

Surprising though Its usually a tactic to fall back on when away from home.

Charlton must desperate if they are doing the same thing at home as well.

It was interesting that on the Football League Show on Saturday night they chose to raise the subject of Charlton's spoiling tactics. Maybe refs will start getting wise to them in the remaining games.

if the Charlton player had approached the problem differently, we wouldn't be in a situation where 2 people are now being charged with offences.
