Jamal Blackman?

Jamal proved his worth on his debut against Brentford especially with some of the saves he made from a brilliant attacking team

The only chance of him being here next season is if we win promotion.

If not then forget it.

Chelsea will sell him, he won’t get near their first team even if Courtois does go to Real, they will just buy a readymade replacement. The only gave him a new contract in the summer to protect their investment. They run their academy like a business and always look to maximise their profit which is why he got the contract.

Personally I can see him ending up at one of the promoted clubs. Fulham on a loan or permanent would be a good fit.

It’s nice to have had a top class keeper in the team this season, and to see him develop as quickly as he has whilst with us.

If we've got £5m to spare then there are better ways of improving our team than blowing it on a goalkeeper. Ridiculous comments in this thread.

Yeah we can get by with a Lee Baxter clone can't we? ;)

We have had a string of very good goalkeepers over the decades - I'd be happy to continue that tradition

Either way that dispute between Prince and KM needs sorting, and PDQ!

Yeh, it's great thinking big as long as you've got the finance to make the thought reality.
Otherwise thinking big is equatable to window shopping...

Must have been one of the rare occasions where the opposition keeper looked even taller than Big Jam. The lad must have slept in fertilizer grow-bag as a kid

Pantillimon wasn't it? Big unit he is.

It's because he's useless. I've read it on here.

I think he's at an age where he isn't the finished product, no keeper is at that age in my view. Sometimes I think he needs to do a bit more work regarding his near post (but given his size you can understand it). I think he is going to be a very good keeper, and if this £1.5m is anywhere near the truth it's a bargain. I can only imagine if true, there are some big sell on clauses attached.

If thats the price, get him bought. Seems awfully cheap though considering?

I just don't see why Chelsea would take that. They might as well let him go out on loan again. Which I think will happen as it suits everybody.

It would be a total no brainer at £1.5m but still might not be possible due to wages. He's got a great contract apparently.

It'd be petty cash to Chelsea wouldn't it? Unless thats the loan fee which would be more likely.

He has got a great contract, but I do feel at some point, he might have to choose between that, and developing his career with regular football elsewhere. I can see him being a regular premier keeper in a couple or so years, not neccessarily with Chelsea.

That's what we have in our favour. There's also the difference in expenses between Sheffield and London.

You have to think we'd summon that amount for a keeper of his quality.
There's not many around.
Gerrimmsigned.

£416k/annum according to HTC, and they are ALWAYS right !

That would be an unbelievable bargain, we should snatch their hands off.

However I am sure the ownership spat will drag on long enough to probably scupper this and other signings that should be no brainers.

I'm sorry but is he really worth 1.5m of our likely to be limited budget based on games like yesterday. Yes he's better than Moore but he still isn't commanding and for me its a big gamble to spend that sort of money on him. He's probably worth it to be fair but on our budget I'm not so sure he is essential. Moore got pelters for his mistake v Barnsley but the one yesterday was worse for me. His hospital throw out right down the middle of the pitch and then the parry both cost us. If we have a budget of 2-3m than I think we can't afford to spend half of that on Blackman - if he will cost us 1.5m. I think there are better bargains out there that are as good. Etheridge from Walsall last season is an example. We were linked with him of course but who knows he if did chose them over us.

a budget of 2 to 3 million. is peanuts in the championship. Our board are a embarrassment if that's going to be the case! I would like Blackman signed. I think he will improve as he gets older. I think Moore is about where he is at now, a decent keeper, who will always find a club to go to, but I think Blackman has more potential, and could become a great keeper.

Yes he is. He's saved us a shit load more points than he's cost us.

Maybe one of the stats gurus could work out a comparison between the number of points he's saved us Vrs the number of expected goals Clarke et al have missed. Then we'll see his true value.

His hospital throw out right down the middle of the pitch and then the parry both cost us.

Thought the parry was Moore-esque and definitely an error. The throw though seemed far less a “hospital throw” and much more Evans failing to control it properly, then confounding that with a terrible 2nd touch. We were looking to break at the time, and I didn’t think the fault there was with the throw.

I agree re Blackman's potential but if we do have a limited budget, and only time will tell here, then I don't see how we can afford to blow 1.5m or a substantial fee of over a million if that leaves is only 1 -1.5 million left to get two decent forwards, and a decent centre half which are all equally important if not more than signing another keeper.
